Tangerang – Zoom Jakarta is an inter-campus collaboration program conducted by Multimedia University, Malaysia. This campus created this program to increase collaboration between existing campuses and explore cross-culture.
This time, Multimedia University, Malaysia, collaborated with Multimedia Nusantara University, Jakarta, for the Zoom Jakarta 2023 program. This program was held for 12 days. Five days were held virtually and seven days offline on the UMN campus. Several MMU students attended UMN to study with students from UMN’s UESC. During the seven days at UMN, they had a series of activities. They were introduced to the UMN campus on the first day with UESC.
The next day (01/11), a welcoming ceremony was held with the rectorate and faculty. They also participated in UMN and MMU cooking demo activities at this welcoming ceremony. MMU and UMN cooked each other’s Malaysian and Indonesian specialties in this session so that both parties could try each other’s culinary and intercultural dishes.

On the third day (02/11), a series of activities for MMU and UMN included participating in batik-making activities held in Kemuning Village, Tangerang. They enjoyed this activity and learned some differences between Malaysian and Indonesian batik, starting from the design and the making process.

“This session was very fun. At first, I thought all batik was the same because Malaysia also has batik cloth. But after seeing and trying the process of making Indonesian Batik, it turns out there are many differences in shape and the process when making this hand-written batik,” said Alyssa, Director of Zoom Jakarta 2023.
On the fourth day, they held an art performance at the UMN Campus. Tracce and ULSON (UMN student organization) also filled this art performance, performing Indonesian dances and songs. MMU also performed Malaysian traditions, from traditional Malaysian clothes to traditional Malaysian dances and songs. In closing, MMU also gave a video presentation to UMN.

“I myself am quite happy with this activity, without UMN this activity might not run smoothly. I am very happy that UMN & MMU are exchanging & learning about each other’s culture,” said Alyssa.
