TANGERANG – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) welcomes representatives of The Higher Education Services Institutes (Lembaga Layanan Pendidikan Tinggi, LLDIKTI) 3, Seoul National University, and OMNI-I. The meeting aims to discuss possible collaboration ideas between the three institutions.
“We hope that from this meeting, we can discuss our potential collaboration ideas and have a fruitful partnership amongst us. Thank you very much, and welcome to UMN,” Dr. Ir. Andrey Andoko, M.Sc., UMN Rector, said, opening the discussion.
Dr. Youngjo Lee, a Professor at Seoul National University’s Department of Statistics, then shared some differences between Indonesia and Korea and mentioned how the two countries could benefit each other.
“Indonesians are very cooperative because of the diversity of people. So you know how to work together with different cultures. For example, in Korea, Japan, and China, we don’t have that (diversity),” YoungJo said.
“With IT and AI, information data has become the new oil. You (Indonesia) have many people and big land, so you have a lot of data. Data from Eastern Asia is very important now, and South Asia will also become very important. I hope we can work together and innovate,” Youngjo added.
Kunyoung Ro, OMNI-I representative, also made some remarks. He briefly shared OMNI-I’s company profile. OMNI-I is a new company founded by Kunyoung and Youngjo. They plan to distribute their platform to Indonesian students.
UMN representatives then shared their university profiles and some of their achievements and programs. Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., UMN Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, shared that UMN has a vision to become a world-class university, so they are increasing collaboration with universities globally.
“Perhaps we could also collaborate with Seoul National University and OMNI-I. We can collaborate in research, joint projects between our lecturers, and even have a joint competition, and many more,” Friska said.
Plenty of potential collaboration ideas were discussed in the fields of IT, AI, Business, and Architecture. The meeting even opened up the possibility of new connections with other campuses and faculties.
“I have been to many universities. I think this (UMN) is the best university in Indonesia– in many aspects, but I like Skystar Ventures’ incubating program. I am interested in knowing more about the ecosystem in Indonesia,” Kunyoung said, closing the discussion.
Further discussion is needed to find and realize the best collaboration idea. We hope the three institutions can soon officially formalize their partnership, benefiting academia and society.
