UMN Lecturers Encourage Creative Teachers and Principals

TANGERANG – Dr. Indiwan Seto, a Communication Studies lecturer at Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), encourages teachers and principals to be more creative. Especially in developing innovation in the world of education through digital media platforms, one of which is YouTube.

According to the former Antara reporter (Indiwan), with the various media platforms that exist, which is YouTube, teachers and school principals can publish content related to students’ and teachers’ achievements, and learning methods through their YouTube channels.

“Data journalism the content is king. Big data is king kong,” said Indiwan as he became a media literacy resource for teachers and principals of senior high schools in Tangerang Regency at the UMN Campus, Tuesday (13/9/2022).

Indiwan encourages teachers and school principals to create a YouTube channel first. The next step is to prepare the filming equipment and the storyline they wish to convey.

“With various preparations, materials and consistency, all of you, we can follow the footsteps of YouTubers like Ria Ricis, Atta and others,” he said.

“Ladies and gentlemen, you must be active, consistent, and serious. We will succeed later,” he said while answering a question from one of the principals regarding their YouTube channel that never got many likes.

In addition, Indiwan encourages the media to be able to place educational issues as the main issue. “The media needs and must pay attention to educational issues. Educational issues are still inferior to political, economic, and entertainment issues,” he said.

Sangki Wahyudin, the Head of PWI Tangerang Regency also presented. He provided and shared materials related to the resolution of press disputes. According to Sangki, teachers and school principals were provided with questions related to the right to answer, asking for the identity of a journalist and talking about the credibility of press media that are legal entities.
