TANGERANG – Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) and WIR Group, an Augmented Reality (AR) based technology company, officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding collaboration in the development of metaverse technology. This collaboration aims to be a bridge for everyone at the UMN campus to be able to learn the reality of future trends and its business side. The MoU was signed by Ninok Leksono, the Chancellor of UMN, and Gupta Sitorus, the Chief Marketing Officer of WIR Group, at the UMN Campus, Serpong, Tangerang, on Friday (1/4/2022).
The event started with a video presentation of UMN’s profile and a brief speech from Ninok. In his speech, Ninok explained that the word “metaverse” is increasingly being heard, but many people still do not understand the true meaning of the metaverse. It is hoped that UMN can add some insight and play a role in metaverse development.
“We are happy to be able to participate in the dynamics of technology that Mr. Gupta and WIR are fighting for. We also always encourage colleagues at UMN to inbase, always in line with the dynamics of that progress,” he continued.
Gupta Sitorus continued by saying that currently, WIR Group is collaborating with UMN as an educational institution to encourage metaverse narratives in relation to developing education.
In his brief presentation, Gupta also said that WIR Group could already be called a global award-winning company because it has had a series of international achievements. WIR Group’s achievements include two years of being a Silicon Valley Awe Award winner (2015 & 2016), having served clients from more than twenty countries worldwide, and being featured on Forbes.com in the article “10 Tech Entrepreneurs You Should Keep Your Eye On.”

Gupta also reiterated that the metaverse is a platform whose contents are built on three fundamental ecosystems, namely Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR).
“We hope that in three years, we can have another place to continue this collaboration with associates from universities, including UMN,” Gupta said.
During the next three years of collaboration, one of the programs being pursued is to incorporate the metaverse curriculum into UMN.
“We are open to all forms of cooperation because we believe there is something we can share and there must be a lot of feedback we can receive from UMN too,” Gupta said in his closing remarks.
