December 14, 2017Third Year, UMN Again Provides Scholarships at OSC 2017
December 19, 2017Continuously with VIT C events held by UMN student affairs for three days starting from December 6 to 8, 2017, then on the second day of the VIT C event held a seminar and also the selection of members of the UMN Anti-Drug Ambassador 2017 held in the Canteen of the New Media Tower Building.
The five finalists were asked to answer questions from the jury that judged and determined the 2017 UMN anti-drug ambassador. The event, which was also attended by Mr. and Miss UMN 2017, also received a positive appreciation.
In addition to the selection of umn anti-drug ambassadors in 2017, there was also a seminar that invited AKBP Halimah SKM M.M from the police in Tangerang. This seminar talks about Drugs and the Criminalization of Drug Users and student efforts to prevent them.
“There are about 20% who are students and students out of a total of 2.9 million drug users in Indonesia,” he said after the 2017 UMN anti-drug ambassador election event. He also said some of the reasons why the number of drug addicts can be quite high. “First, it’s because of environmental issues. Maybe it’s the social environment, the neighborhood of friends that affects that number,” he added.

Another thing that is also a concern is family issues. “Ordinary families who break home then divorced it is also the cause,” he added. The third thing he thought came from the victim himself. “Minder or lack of confidence, the ostracized person usually uses drugs to increase his existence.”
Halimah also appreciated umn’s move to hold and choose anti-drug ambassadors because young people need people who can be an example to eradicate drugs. “UMN is a driver for drug prevention. Not all colleges have this program,” he said. “Hopefully, they can socialize the dangers of this drug.”
In this event, Bella Viona Casvfrilla (Journalism 2016) was selected as umn 2017 anti-drug ambassador, followed by Agnes Tahir Purba (Journalism 2016) as the second champion. Met after the awards show, Viona, promised to be a real example for the anti-drug movement. “As an ambassador, I need to be able to spread what the dangers of drugs, the impact of drug use, and so on,” Bella said.
While Agnes wants to be a facilitator not just be a pioneer. “So, students can share together to foster confidence in them,” agnes said.
They hope that students who are of productive age can display talent to avoid drug use. “Students can use that for something positive. So, don’t ruin your future with drugs!” cried Bella to the students.
Happy duty and become a drug ambassador umn, Vio and Agnes! (*)
