September 2, 2022TANGERANG – Great! Two teams of Multimedia Nusantara University students from the Architecture Study Program (UMN Architecture) won first place, second place, and favorite winner in the H-7 Architecture Competition themed “Re-Greeneration Space” from Podomoro University.
Quoting Podomoro University’s Instagram account, “The H-7 ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION is a competition to design an architectural work for 7 days. This competition was held to invite exploration and innovation with responsive architecture in the Covid-19 era. The theme this time is ‘RE-GREENERATION SPACE’.”
The UMN architecture student team members won first place with an appreciation of Rp. 5,000,000 were Halim and Winny with the design “Adaptive & Connecting Park Kalianyar.” The members of the second team who won second place and the favorite winner with an appreciation of Rp. 3,000,000 were Jason Alif Purnawan, Jonathan Subagiyo, and Nicholas Owen Linuel with the design “Taman Monumen Perjuangan.”
UMN conducted an interview with one of the winning members, Halim, to share his experiences and feelings.
“Our theme was raised from the problem of the location of the Kalianyar city village next to Duri Station, where we plan to optimize the movement of residents with the Duri Station and the residents’ needs based on their daily habits,” Halim explained.
The Halim team is trying to create a gathering place that will accommodate various groups, namely local residents and immigrants from the station, a park that is adaptive and has the flexibility of connection to the movement of the surrounding environment. In addition, it also seeks to facilitate several spatial functions such as the local culture of pencak silat, reading areas, informal sector areas for street vendors and expressive spaces such as local buskers to support the local economy. It seeks to increase the synergy of the new adaptation system to the economy of outsiders.
When asked what the team’s future plans are, Halim said they wanted to continue to move forward and learn more at a more complex design level regarding architectural arrangements and problems in the environment and the city. They want to be able to provide innovations and new, unique and original solutions to answer existing concerns.
“Our hope and the message from our team is that every solution and design concept of every architectural problem presented can respond to the locality and functionality of local residents and positively impact the development of a better community life cycle,” Halim concluded.
UMN once again congratulates Halim, Winny, Jason, Jonathan and Nicholas! Continue achieving for your alma mater, country, and others. Salam UMN!
