Tangerang – Two Universitas Multimedia Nusantara University students have successfully participated in the 2024 National Community Service (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) Program XII, which is held in four regions in Indonesia: Ambon City, Central Maluku Regency, West Seram Regency, and Buru Regency.
The two students are Linus Gregorius Radithya, a UMN Physics Engineering student, and Gregorius Ricky Dewanto, a UMN Management student. They were successfully selected after completing various stages, from submitting the required files to interviews.
“At first, I was looking for information on Gmail and saw information about the National KKN. Long story short, I tried to register via gmail by including various required files and praise God for being accepted and continuing the interview stage. I passed the interview stage and was accepted as one of UMN’s representatives,” Gregorius said when interviewed by UMN News Service on Sunday (11/08/2024).

In addition, Gregorius said that before participating in the National KKN activity, he had been told the 12 main problems being experienced at the KKN site and then designed what he could do during the KKN activity.
Seeing that he majored in UMN Management, he then chose to help in the field of human resources.
“The plan I have made turned out to be possible, one of which is teaching business economics to high school students and ICT (how to use computers for test assessments, word, excel, and so on). On the other hand, I also do regular training to junior high schools, high schools, and teachers about basic multimedia (social media),” Gregorius said.
Unlike Gregorius, who focuses on human resources, the other UMN student who participated in this program, Linus, revealed that he is more focused on education.
“I focus on education, so I help elementary and junior high school teachers teach. Specifically for high school, (I) provide training to students and multimedia training to teachers so that the learning process is more interesting,” Linus told UMN News Service on Friday (09/08/2024).
Things to Remember When Participating in KKN.
Not only did the two discuss their programs in KKN Kebangsaan, but they also gave essential things to remember when doing KKN activities. Linus highlighted that it is important for students to maintain attitude and manners and obey their foster parents when participating in this activity.
Gregorius also highlighted a similar point. “One proverb that students need to remember before conducting KKN to the region is ‘Where the earth is, there the sky is upheld,’ which means we must respect and follow local customs, rules, or habits wherever we are,” he said.
Regarding his hopes during the KKN program, Gregorius hopes that what he and other KKN colleagues do in the area can be sustainable and useful in the long term.
“For example, multimedia training, I hope that the knowledge I have provided can develop the interest of students and teachers in engaging in social media,” he said.
Meanwhile, Linux hopes the area can grow further through the education he helps develop. “The world of education in villages can grow human resources to manage villages and countries in the future,” Linux said.
