February 3, 2025UMN welcomes the arrival of Riau University (Doc. UMN)
Tangerang – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) received a visit from Riau University on (09/01/2025). This visit was aimed at discussing future collaborations between UMN and Riau University. Both parties have initiated several collaborations and partnerships to achieve the same goals.
Since 2007, UMN has collaborated with many national and international universities. This time, UMN has the opportunity to collaborate with Riau University. In addition to expanding cooperation, UMN and Riau University will conduct various academic collaborations in the future.
“We are currently improving our international reputation and QS Star. We are also exploring to increase international rankings, such as increasing student recruitment, journal publications, collaborations, and many more,” Dr. Andrey Andoko, UMN Rector, said.
In this meeting, Andrey was very open to Riau University to collaborate on innovations and cooperate in the Tri Dharma of higher education. One of the collaborations is community service.
“In general, for community service, we focus on sustainability, so there are more research topics on sustainability and AI. This theme itself is getting stronger globally, especially about the SDGs which are the central topic. UMN’s academic community can choose which SDG they want,” Andrey continued.
On this occasion, Riau University initiated several collaborations with UMN to improve international programs and develop university research, such as synchronizing information systems in UMN and implementing community service not only in learning but also in joint research.
“We see that UMN has a very strong information system, and international cooperation is being built. We want to continue the process of developing our university not only in Sumatra but also improving our programs at the international level because this year we want to try to internationalize”, said Dr. Ir. Sofyan Husein Siregar, M.Phil., the Vice-Rector of Riau University for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems.
Sofyan hopes that UMN and Riau University can collaborate well, develop both parties and achieve the same goal of being recognized internationally.
“We welcome UMN to conduct research in the place we provide so that lecturers and students can do research together and publish it internationally. Besides that, there are other collaboration programs, such as guest lectures,” Sofyan continued.
