Director of the Institute for Research and Community Service

When talking about the beginning of the establishment of the Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), the name Winarno is one of the names of the initiators. The reason is that in 2004, Winarno was given the mandate to become the Project Manager of UMN Development.

The man who was born in Semarang, October 30, 1960, has been serving the Kompas Gramedia company for a long time, starting from a year after he graduated from the bachelor’s degree in the agricultural industrial engineering study program at IPB in 1984 until now he is the Director of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) at UMN.

In 1985, Winarno worked at Kompas Gramedia. His first position at that time was as a science editor for PT Alex Media Komputindo. Two years later, he was entrusted with the role of Deputy Business Manager as well as managing editor of Info Computer magazine.

Winarno earned a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Indonesia in 1996 and in the same year, he was appointed director of Grasindo Publishers until 2004. Winarno completed his doctoral studies in education management at the State University of Jakarta in 2005.

At the beginning of the founding of UMN in 2006, Winarno was trusted to be vice chancellor I. Three years after that, in 2009 until now, he has carried out his duties as Director of LPPM.

Apart from being vice chancellor and now director of LPPM, the man who was formerly active in the martial arts field is also fond of channeling the knowledge he has mastered by teaching classes since 2007 until now.

Winarno hopes that UMN can be more advanced, especially in conducting research and community service.
