ULTIMAGZ Wins Two GOLD in the National Campus Media Event
March 14, 2016Inflation-Literate through Alumni Talkshow
March 21, 2016As a fresh graduate who is ready to apply his knowledge in the world of work, it takes its own debriefing in order to be able to ‘win the heart’ of the dream company. To that end, UMN held a Career Preparation Workshop on Wednesday (16/3) with keyspeaker from ExperdFresh. They provide tips and tricks ranging from finding vacancies to how to deal with interviews.
Being a ‘newcomer’ to the world of work is not easy. Many things need to be well prepared in order to successfully get a call from the company. ExperdFresh shared his tips with students and students who attended the Lecture Hall this afternoon. It starts with finding a vacancy. Currently vacancies are available in various media, ranging from print media to online media. Thousands of vacancies exist every day, we can choose vacancies that are in accordance with the background of education, interests, abilities and knowledge.
After that, prepare the required documents such as Cover letter, CV, transcript of grades, reference letter and certificate. Cover letters and CVs that are made should also follow the existing rules. The most important thing is not too long, long-winded or too low in information, should not write “no experience” on the work history and must include an address, phone number and e-mail that can be directly contacted.
The five skills that can add selling value are good leadership (can be seen from the experience of organizing during school or college), time management, mastery of foreign languages (such as English, Mandarin, Korean or Japanese), have good communication skills and sales.
When you have successfully passed the CV screening, the next stage faced is Psychotest or online test. We must arrive on time and always focus on running psychotests. There is no cheating term in running the test because everything comes from within us. Then, there are companies that also implement Focus Group Discussion as one of the selection stages. In this FGD, participants are included in a group to discuss existing problems. The last one is the interview.
Interviews can be conducted by several parties such as HRD, User or Board of Directors, and each party has its own points that are asked. But overall, when dealing with interviewers, we as applicants should be dressed or look attractive, present on time, have brief knowledge of the position and company, use the right body or non-verbal language, can always face questions beyond expectations and finally, prepare questions to the interviewer at the end of the interview. It can also show our interest in the position and the company.
After the selection stage, the decision will be left to the company. If our qualifications are appropriate, then be prepared for a fun first day. If not, we do not need to be discouraged because there are still many opportunities in other companies. Success always! (*)
