Tangerang (30/05/2023) – Digital transformation has now brought significant changes to the younger generation to be more adaptive & data literate. The use of data in the industry has now become an important part, in line with the message that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed at the 2023 National Press Day Celebration that “Data is the new oil, whose price is infinite.”
Based on this statement, data is a valuable asset in the current era, so the government gives full encouragement to literate data that can be consumed by all levels of society, especially the younger generation as the nation’s successor.
Supporting this, DQLab, an online Data Science learning platform initiated by Multimedia Nusantara University and Xeratic, collaborated with Hitachi Vantara by releasing Pentaho modules packaged in Indonesian. Pentaho itself is a Business Intelligence (BI) software that provides data integration, On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) services, reporting, dashboarding, data mining, and Extraction, Transformation & Load (ETL) capabilities. Pentaho Data Integration (PDI) or Kettle is Pentaho software used for the ETL process. PDI can be used for data migration, data cleaning, loading from file to database, or vice versa in large volumes.
Of the many data tools, Pentaho is a vital tool to master because many companies in the industry have optimized Pentaho as one of the effective data processing processes. The following is an important list of mastering Pentaho:
- Structured & controlled data capture
- Easy to embed, which can be implemented in various application paths such as Cloud, model & hybrid data models.
- Pentaho Data Integration accurately integrates data & blends data from multiple sources.
- By optimizing Pentaho, we can drag & drop visually, making it easy to create interactive & simple visuals.
“Data analysis is almost always hampered because data preparation has not happened. And data preparation itself is a very time-consuming process, some of which is often repetitive and some of which always needs to be customized. Pentaho comes as a tool to solve the problem of data preparation significantly and easy to use, so that mastering it will provide great benefits, especially for smooth data analysis to produce useful business insights,” said Feris Thia, Founder of Xeratic.
According to Seng Joo Lim, Marketing Specialist of Hitachi Vantara, “In the era of digital transformation and technological advancement (such as Chat GPT), we need data that can be processed, prepared, integrated, and used for machine learning and analysis to solve real-world problems. Time is crucial in all these steps. Traditionally, this would take seven times longer than using a tool like Pentaho.”
“With Pentaho, it helps increase productivity seven times and get products to market seven times faster. Pentaho is essential to help companies avoid experiencing the next ‘Kodak moment'” Seng Joo added.
Why should the younger generation get acquainted with Pentaho? Pentaho is a very powerful Business Intelligence tool that contributes to analyzing data, providing insights in an interactive format with output in the form of dashboards.
“Hopefully, from this collaboration we can introduce tools that are very powerful to be able to process data end-to-end and user friendly. So that they (data talents) can prepare themselves and build the right skills to start a career in the data field.” Said Yovita Surianto, Head of Manager of DQLab.
By releasing the Pentaho module in Indonesian, it is hoped that there will be no more obstacles for the younger generation and data talents in learning Business Intelligence tools, and the presence of Pentaho can help process data efficiently.
To access Pentaho, friends can access through the official DQLab page. Not only the Pentaho module in Indonesian, but DQLab also provides a Bootcamp class program for even beginners / NON IT with applicable learning materials and is directly guided by professional data practitioner mentors in the industry.
