November 16, 2015Undeniably, everything about South Korea managed to attract the hearts of many Indonesians, especially the younger generation. South Korean language and culture are best-sellingly studied. This is often considered bad because Indonesia is considered to be a consumer of this ginseng country. According to South Korea’s ambassador to Indonesia, Cho Tai-Young, Indonesia is a friend of South Korea.
In a public lecture themed “The Promising Development of Korea – Indonesia Diplomatic Relations” held Wednesday (11/11) at UMN, Cho expressed his admiration for Indonesia.
“When compared to Indonesia, South Korea is just a small country. Indonesia is 19 times bigger than South Korea. Indonesia is five times larger than South Korea,” he said.
He added that the cooperation between South Korea and Indonesia has existed since 1973. This cooperation is not only in terms of trade. Many other sectors also benefit both sides.
“Indonesia and South Korea are working together in the defense sector. In this field, Indonesia and South Korea will develop a fighter jet together. In addition, the two countries also have cooperation in terms of energy and natural resources, infrastructure, e-government, ICT, and cultural exchange.”
In this public lecture, there is also a question and answer session that is welcomed enthusiastically by communication science students who are participants. In addition, the event was also enlivened by the appearance of UKM Qorrie UMN and saxophone performances.
In addition to public lectures, on Wednesday there was also a South Korean product bazaar held in the Student Lounge, Building B UMN. Some of the products provided include fashion products, accessories, beauty, and household appliances. (*)
