TANGERANG – UMN 2018 Accounting student Sekarwulan got the opportunity to attend a training camp at Apple Developer Academy Cohort 6 Year 2023. She and her team created an iOS application called LAF System that will be integrated with the MyMRTJ application in the first quarter of 2024.
Through the LAF System, MRT Jakarta passengers can report their lost items using only an iPhone. This application will make it easier for MRT Jakarta officers to manage and locate lost items at 13 stations.
“MRT passengers only need to download the MyMRTJ application and can access the LAF System feature in My MRTJ,” Sekarwulan said.
Even without an IT background, Sekarwulan was able to contribute as a Product Manager and UX Designer in the creation of the LAF System. At Apple Developer Academy, participants are taught the basics of programming, professional competence, design, and marketing.
In addition, Sekarwulan also admitted that she had participated in UMN’s Skystar Innovation Challenge (SIC) program. SIC is a collaboration program between UMN and Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) in Singapore that has been running since 2019. This program provides debriefing to solve real problems faced by the industry.
According to Sekarwulan, the SIC program helped her understand application development. Therefore, she advised not to be afraid to try. She said anyone from any background can enter the Apple Developer Academy.
“In addition, the Technopreneurship course, which was taught by Mr. Felix Sutisna, taught me a lot of basics about product management and also basic technology business,” Sekarwulan explained.

During the approximately 10-month Apple boot camp, Sekarwulan revealed that she collaborated extensively with developers and designers from various backgrounds. Sekarwulan also collaborated with six other people from diverse backgrounds in making the LAF System application.
Apple Developer Academy has trained more than thousands of aspiring app developers in Indonesia since it opened in 2018. In Indonesia, Apple Developer Academy partners with BINUS University in Jakarta, Ciputra University in Surabaya, and Infinite Learning in Batam. The first academy of its kind in Southeast Asia aims to develop Apple’s mobile operating system.
Only hundreds of participants, including Sekarwulan, were selected to join the Apple Developer Academy in 2023. Previously, she had to compete with around 8,000 applicants to get into Apple’s application development training program.
