Tangerang—UMN’s Faculty of Arts and Design (Fakultas Seni dan Desain/FSD) inaugurated a collaboration with the Jakarta Institute of Arts on Saturday (22/02/2025). This collaboration will emphasize creative media and film programs. Muhammad Cahya Mulya Daulay, S.Sn., M.Ds., the Dean of FSD UMN, Dr. Rina Yanti Harahap, M.Sn., the Dean of FFTV-IKJ, and other faculty members attended the signing of the MoU.
FSD UMN has always had a vision and mission to produce creative, competent graduates with an international outlook in art and design. To strive for this, FSD UMN continues to collaborate with many institutions in Indonesia, one of which was recently inaugurated with the Faculty of Film and Television, Jakarta Arts Institute (Institut Kesenian Jakarta).
“This MOU discusses tridharma collaboration in the audio-visual field, such as film and animation. The science of Film, Animation and TV in Indonesia has an excellent potential to develop, so it is an obligation to strengthen collaboration between institutions with harmonious scientific backgrounds,” Cahya said.
In the discussion with IKJ, many collaborations will be carried out with IKJ, namely UMN’s UCIFEST 16 Film Festival, IMOVICCON 2025 International Conference, collaboration on National Film Day events, and collaboration with Ultimart & Imaji scientific journals. All these activities are hoped to be carried out together this year.
“The closest collaboration is the UCIFEST 16 Film Festival and the National Film Day celebration. We are currently exploring between UMN and IKJ with their respective person in charge,” Cahya continued.
Cahya hopes that the collaboration between UMN and IKJ can develop knowledge through activities that are more exposed to the broader community. Cahya also hopes this collaboration can be mutually supportive and impact UMN and IKJ positively.
IKJ itself hopes that this collaboration can help develop academic programs later, both from research and other collaborations, so that it can provide valuable experience for students. Implementing the theory in the collaboration program is hoped to help students gain skills for the future.
