Adi Wibowo Octavianto is a researcher and lecturer specializing in digital journalism, computational social science, and storytelling technology. He has a strong interest in combining media and technology to create innovative media experiences.
As part of the Journalism Department at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara, Adi has been involved in the development of new courses such as Data-Driven Storytelling and Interactive Media Storytelling. Previously, he served as an assistant lecturer at Universitas Padjadjaran, teaching various courses related to media development, the political economy of communication, media management, and television news production.
Adi holds a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences from Universitas Indonesia, with a published thesis on social media and communication culture. He also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences (Journalism) from Universitas Padjadjaran.
Adi’s contributions to academia can be seen through his publications in reputable journals, including Asia Pacific Media Educator and Ultimacomm: Journal of Communication Science. He actively participates in international conferences such as the International Conference of Vocational Higher Education.
Beyond his academic pursuits, Adi engages in various international activities that demonstrate his engagement in the media industry. He has been part of the supervisory team for international student newsrooms during World Press Freedom Day 2016 and was invited to participate in the Google Earth Master Class workshop in Tokyo in 2018. Furthermore, Adi has served as a mentor for student teams in the Hackathon Jakarta’s Editor Labs in 2017.
Throughout his career, Adi continues to explore the boundaries of digital journalism and computational social science. His deep interest in audience research, text mining, interactive storytelling, and immersive journalism drives him to innovate and enrich our understanding of social interactions in the digital era.
With his expertise and competence, Adi Wibowo Octavianto strives to advance the field of digital journalism and inspire professionals and academics in the media industry.
