TANGERANG – The Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) conducted a monitoring visit to Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) on Thursday, September 7, 2023. This monitoring was the first time the KOICA Director visited UMN’s campus to see the program’s effectiveness.
KOICA is a government organization established by the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs to increase the effectiveness of South Korea’s grant aid programs for developing countries by implementing government programs.
Ir. Andrey Andoko, M.Sc., UMN’s Vice-Rector for General Administration and Finance, in his speech, said, “We warmly welcome the visitation of KOICA representatives to UMN. Seeing that Indonesia and countries in Asia want to focus on energy transition and digital transformation opens up opportunities for training programs between UMN, Silla University, and KOICA in the fields of Smart Factory and Cloud Big Data to produce expert workers who can be absorbed by Korean companies that work with Indonesia.”
After a budget proposal worth 898 million Korean Won was successfully accepted in January 2021, this collaboration program has been carried out by providing free training in the fields of Smart Factory and Cloud Big Data to university graduates in Banten Province and surrounding areas to improve skills and employability.
“There are two tracks offered, namely Smart Factory, for graduates of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and similar study programs, and Cloud Big Data for graduates of informatics, information systems, computer engineering, business, and other study programs,” said Johanes Tambing Boro, UMN’s Continuing Education Department (CED) Manager.
The participants are given intensive training for 7 to 8 weeks directly by UMN lecturers with a curriculum designed by Silla University. This training is open to university alumni in the Banten region free of charge with the main condition that they have not yet gotten a job. Alumni of this training program are directly offered to companies in need (such as PT. Hyundai LG Indonesia, an EV Battery factory company).
(07/2023) UMN’s collaboration with Silla University and KOICA has successfully completed the KSU4IRTC Training Program with a total of 170 alumni from various universities in Banten.
