Library innovation became the center of knowledge (Library as knowledge center) delivered Orisa Mahardhini, Library Superintendent UMN, became the 2nd winner in the selection competition for outstanding librarians at banten province level organized by the Regional Archive Library Agency (BPAD) Banten, Wednesday (9/8). This innovation is intended for the development of UMN library towards the concept of digital library.
Various innovations have been carried out by Orisa during his work at UMN, one of which is about the library as knowledge center project. This project aims to manage the knowledge that is still in the mind to be poured into various media that can be accessed by the wider community. “We have a lot of information that is not well documented and has not been centralized. The content can come from lecture material from lecturers or public lectures from guest speakers such as ministers or professionals, conference results, and others, “said Orisa.

The content will need to be documented in various forms such as video, audio, paper, articles to journals, then uploaded in the UMN repository system where the public can access from there. “It can also be useful for accreditation needs, all data can be accessed easily there,” Orisa added.
The concept of library as knowledge is poured into the article by using knowledge management as the basis of the theory, namely how to apply it to the library environment. The article was presented before a jury at the race organized by bpadb. There were nineteen other participants from various educational institutions in Banten (such as universities, schools and offices) who participated.
In addition to presenting articles, Orisa also had to go through cognitive tests and interviews, until finally getting the second place. The award itself will be given on August 22, 2017 in Gebyar Banten, Rangkas Bitung.
In the future, Orisa wants to re-develop umn library into a digital library with more digital collections. “We want to apply the code reader to existing books so that they can be uploaded on ePerpus. During this time the existing book was developed by others, therefore we hope to have our own application for code readers, “he explained. (*)
