Collaboration between Institutions, Fostering Entrepreneurial Spirit in Students Through The “Skystar Youngpreneur Competition”

Tangerang (22/01/2024) – Skystar Ventures UMN once again invites high school students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset through the Skystar Youngpreneur Competition held at Raffles Christian School and Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri on Monday (22/01/2024) to Friday (26/01/2024). This time, UMN’s Skystar Ventures collaborated with DANA as an industry partner. 

Through a series of events, more than 50 students from Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri and Raffles Group of Schools were trained to develop their creativity and entrepreneurial skills and their business interests. This activity began with team building, followed by brainstorming and industry knowledge enrichment. After that, participants will deepen problem identification and research for innovative solutions based on real industry problems presented by DANA. 

In the last stage, participants will finalize the solution of their innovation idea by pitching it to DANA and representatives from venture capital (VC). Through this session, the students will get advice, input, and feedback that can help them to get to know the reality of the industry better. In addition, the three groups with the best ideas will receive prizes worth Rp2,250,000. 

Skystar Youngpreneur Competition provides a fun but also challenging opportunity for students who become participants. They have the opportunity to collaborate, build character, analyze problems, and present their ideas professionally with the help of experienced mentors.

“It’s really an opportunity for them. A chance to come together and interact. A chance to come and learn together. Not only from each other but also from mentors and facilitators. They get a chance to learn from case studies from experienced people,” said Gary Tan, Director of Raffles Group of School.

“This program is also a tangible manifestation of collaborative learning that not only nurtures entrepreneurial and leadership talents but also shapes character and practical knowledge in facing an increasingly dynamic business world,” added Yenny Chandra, Academic Director of Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri.

Skystar Youngpreneur Competition itself has been held twice since 2023. This activity is a manifestation of the desire of Skystar Ventures, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara, and DANA, along with Raffles Group of School and Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri, to be part of creating a future led by a generation of critical, creative, and innovative minds to sustain the nation’s economy. 

“Indonesia needs more entrepreneurs. By introducing entrepreneurship earlier, it is hoped that more new entrepreneurs will be created who will contribute to job creation,” said Andrey Andoko, Head of Incubator Skystar Ventures UMN and UMN’s Vice-Rector for General Administration and Finance.
