UMN Tower 3 Construction Enters Final Stage
May 29, 2017GRADUATION XI UMN: Innovation as the Competitiveness of the Nation
July 10, 2017JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Facing increasingly fierce global competition, Indonesia must quickly improve to give birth to reliable, competitive, and information technology literate human resources.
Welcoming the challenge, Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) continues to strive to develop new study programs (study programs) that are in accordance with the demands of the times.
In 2017, Multimedia Nusantara University launched the D3 Hospitality and S1 Business Management study program. D3 Hospitality is UMN’s response to the Indonesian government’s work program which is developing 10 new tourist destinations.
“To anticipate the 10 new tourist destinations, there will definitely be various accommodations, one of which is a hotel. Of course, it also takes hospitality personnel,” said Rector of Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), Ninok Leksono, during a media meeting in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/6/2017).
UMN Vice Rector, Andrey Andoko, said, the hospitality program will focus on printing human resources that have comprehensive hospitality practical capabilities, qualified information technology capabilities, as well as foreign language skills and operational governance.
UMN will provide internship opportunities in the Santika Hotel group network. As is known, UMN and Santika are companies under the banner of the same group, Kompas Gramedia Group.
In addition, D3 Hospitality UMN also cooperates with internationally renowned hotels. One of them is with Archipelago International which oversees hotels such as Aston, Alana, Kamuela, Fave Hotel, Neo Hotel, Quest Hotel, and Harper Hotel.
D3 Hospitality became a new study program launched in 2017, along with the S1 Business Management program.
The previous year, UMN also launched a new study program, namely S1 Electrical Engineering with industry automation interest, S1 Physics Engineering with energy management interest, S1 Architecture with Green Architecture interest.
During this time, UMN is known as a campus with teaching methods that have been aligned with the latest industry needs. Andrey said, his party is now continuing to improve to prepare reliable human resources who are ready to compete in their respective industries.
UMN already has an UMN Development Master Plan. This year until 2021 is a year of strengthening for collaboration with industry. “2021-2026 strengthens teaching with research power, and by 2026-2030 is expected to become a World Class University, a world-class university,” andrey said.
Previously, for almost the last 10 years, UMN has had four study programs that have had accreditation A. The four study programs are Accounting, Management, Communication Science, and Visual Communication Design.
“In less than 10 years of age, the study programs have received accreditation A. Only 49 universities out of 4,000 more public and private universities in Indonesia have received A accreditation,” said Andrey.
It’s not just the umn’s job !.!.! In the current era of global competition, the task of printing a reliable workforce is realized that it cannot be shouldered alone by UMN. UMN Rector Ninok Leksono emphasized that such tasks require synergy of all parties.
Nowadays, many people avoid technical work. “The needs of our engineers up to 5 million people, only met by 1.2 million engineers. Technical personnel are indeed few, the interest of the younger generation is decreasing,” Ninok said.
Large countries like China are aware of the power of technical workers. China then adopted the workings of Germany which is known to be a champion in the field of engineering.
“China is now an innovator country as well, not only good at making low quality goods or commonly called KW quality,” Ninok said.
With the power of reliably educated engineers, China is beginning to touch industries that require a high level of precision and precision. “They’re starting to get into the premium industry, they’ve been able to make rockets and launchers,” Ninok said.
So important is the influence of information and communication technology is what makes UMN continue to strive to partner with strategic parties to prepare the needs of reliable technical personnel.
“The creative economists we expect to emerge, are impossible without the support of information technology. We want to share invite all parties to become partners in transformation efforts towards a better future,” ninok said.
