ICE BSD, Saturday (14/12/2024) – Higher education is not only a place to gain knowledge but also an important stage in shaping oneself for the future. In higher education, students not only earn an academic degree when they finish their studies but also begin the step of opening professional career opportunities. Starting this step into the professional world, 1380 Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) students graduated.
In this XXVII Graduation Ceremony, UMN invites graduates to reflect on the true meaning of graduation, which is not merely the end of the learning process. Graduation is, instead, the first moment in achieving dreams and starting a long journey toward a future full of opportunities and challenges.
The experience of graduates during college is an essential provision in the process after graduation. The knowledge, skills, and attitudes resulting from these experiences will become the main foundation for life in a professional environment.
In addition to graduating diplomas, undergraduates, and postgraduates, at the XXVII UMN Graduation this time, UMN also inaugurated five PPAr graduates by taking the Architect Professional Oath in front of the Central IAI representative, Mario Wibisono and IAI Banten representative Achmad Zakaria. PPAr is the fastest program for the Bachelor of Architecture graduates who want to become Professional Architects. PPAr graduates immediately fulfill the initial administrative requirements to become Professional Architects.
In his speech at this graduation, Ninok Leksono, UMN’s Rector, congratulated the graduates and their families and reiterated his message of being adaptive in responding to the times.
“First, I congratulate the graduates and their families. Hopefully, the knowledge gained at UMN can be valuable in navigating the professional world. In the era of dynamic times, continue to be adaptive and learners,” Ninok said.
This graduation is Ninok’s last big moment at UMN because he will end his term as a rector. After leading UMN for 13 years, Ninok will enter his retirement period. At this auspicious moment, the Vice-Rector for Relations & Cooperation, Muliawati G. Siswanto, will also end her tenure at UMN.
“This graduation, the 27th, is also the last graduation I will attend as a rector. The graduates and I will move on, entering a new world. May God always bless us,” Ninok said.
Ninok also advised the big family of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara to always maintain their commitment to advancing UMN and maintaining friendship, unity, and harmony.
Prof. Muliawati– often called Prof. Mul, will enter her retirement period after contributing to building, expanding, and strengthening UMN’s strategic relationships and collaborations with various parties at home and abroad.
“Seeing UMN’s growth from only 70 students to today, UMN continues to develop well, and its development is always positive and never goes down. Hopefully, UMN will continue to progress,” Muliawati said.
Muliawati hopes that UMN’s big family will continue to have good goals and traits, one of which is carrying the good values of Kompas Gramedia, namely 5C (Caring, Credible, Competent, Competitive, and Customer Delight) in their work.
“To the graduates, I advise that you will forever be UMN’s big family. After this, you will become UMN alumni. I hope the graduates continue to carry UMN’s good name and remember the alma mater that has educated them. Hopefully, after this, the graduates will take the right steps and become successful,” Muliawati concluded.
The head of LLDIKTI, Toni Toharudin, also attended this graduation. In his speech, Toni revealed that university graduates face increasingly complex challenges in the era of technological disruption, Industrial Revolution 5.0, and massive globalization. However, these challenges also open up great opportunities for those willing to adapt, innovate, and compete globally.
“I would like to emphasize three important things that need to be handled by the graduates in facing the journey ahead. First, keep learning and adapting because the world is constantly changing, and the ability to learn throughout life is the main key to success. Second, innovate and think creatively. Don’t just be a technology user, but be a creator of solutions that bring positive change. Third, maintain integrity and contribute to society. True success is not only measured by personal achievement but also by the extent of the benefits you can provide to others,” Toni said.
At the end of his speech, Toni appreciated UMN’s success in producing quality and globally competitive graduates. UMN has proven its role as a superior university that continues to commit and innovate. With an increasing reputation, Toni believes that UMN will continue to produce quality human resources for the advancement of Indonesia and the world.
The end of this graduation moment is also the first step for graduates in navigating the professional world. The values obtained during college are expected to continue to be carried and become provisions wherever alumni work. This graduation is also memorable because not only did the graduates say goodbye, but also two critical people in the development of UMN: Ninok and Muliawati.
“Thank you Mr. Ninok and Prof. Mul for all forms of dedication in building our beloved alma mater,” said the graduates.
