Details of VCD Department Tuition Fees
Each university sets a different tuition fee according to its policies. As an estimate, to register as a VCD student, you have to prepare around Rp. 20,000,000 to Rp. 50,000,000 as a starting fee. Meanwhile, the Semester Course Credit System (Sistem Kredit Semester/SKS) fees that must be paid generally start from 300 thousand rupiahs.

VCD Department Entrance Requirements
The DKV study program is open to all high school students from different majors and school backgrounds. But, you need to prepare a few things before entering the VCD major. Entrance requirements: Create work in the form of an A4 image with the following conditions:
- Prospective students can draw using their hands or adequate computer software.
- Images must not contain ethnicity, religion, race, & intergroup elements, and pornography.
- The work results are original, plagiarism-free, and not helped by outside parties.
VCD Student Learning Activities
The Visual Communication Design Department has a myriad of exciting and challenging courses for students to follow. Like majors in general, typically, students can spend 4 years of study or take 8 semesters before finally graduating.
In the first year, students will learn about basic understanding in the form of theory, history, and basic design principles.
Then, in the second year, students will be given lessons on design methods, media production techniques, and an introduction to creative business. This year is usually the most eagerly awaited by the community because it will be the determining factor in taking specialization.
After successfully passing the second year, students will study design projects, design research, and sound design. In the same year, students also need to understand Intellectual Copyright as one of the essential things in learning.
The fourth-year is the peak of student learning. After learning and working on various assignments and projects, students will implement their knowledge and skills by doing internships.
Things to be Prepared as a VCD Student
In addition to honing your skills in doing visual works, you also need to prepare some of the necessary lecture support equipment while you are a VCD student.
1. Pencil
The pencil is a must-have tool and will be used from the start to the end of your journey as a VCD student. There are also many types of pencils used by VCD students which have different functions. For example, stick graphite pencils are used to make thinner or thicker strokes than ordinary pencils can.
2. Sketchbook
Just like a pencil, although it seems more traditional, a sketchbook is also a core requirement that you need while studying. Because, in the first year, new students are presented with introductory courses to support skills and creativity in designing visual works. So, a sketchbook is the main medium needed in pouring your work.
3. Software
Design doesn’t mean you only need paper and a pencil to pour your work. With the development of technology, students are required to have expertise in using various supporting software such as Adobe Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape, and Adobe Photoshop.
4. Drawing Tablet/Pen Tablet
Over time, VCD students must also adapt to digitalization in designing their work. The reason is that in addition to physical sketches and works, students will also learn how to create digital works. Using a pen tablet, the tool is used to make it easier for students to distribute their drawings to their laptops for editing. The price of a drawing tablet generally starts from 700,000 rupiahs.
5. Laptops/PCs
Without a laptop, you can’t produce digital work, or it’s as simple as sending assignments to lecturers. Therefore, this item is the most fundamental for DKV students.
