UMN and Silla University Discusses The KSU4IRTC Program and Future Collaborations
January 20, 2025TANGERANG – On Wednesday (15/01/2025), Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) welcomed the deans, lecturers, and students from Can Tho University, Vietnam, on the UMN Campus to discuss potential collaboration. Various UMN and Can Tho representatives attended the meeting.
UMN has previously visited Can Tho University, where they discussed potential collaborations. Can Tho’s visit to UMN aims to kick-start the implementation of the collaboration ideas.
“We are honored to be here to be welcomed by UMN. We hope our students can learn from UMN,” Dr. Le Ngoc Triet, Dean of the School of Political Science at Can Tho University, said.
Can Tho University (CTU) is one of Vietnam’s most prominent institutions of higher education in the Mekong Delta region. It was founded in 1966 and has since been critical in advancing education, research, and development, particularly in agriculture, aquaculture, and environmental science, areas vital to the region’s economy.
“Hopefully, we can discuss further about the potential collaboration like research collaboration, student exchange, and other programs,” Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., UMN Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, said.
The two parties started discussing the various programs they offer and found plenty of similarities. They also discussed many collaboration ideas, such as student exchange programs, English language programs, innovative business programs, disaster risk communication programs, sustainability, humanity projects, mobility programs, and more.
Plenty of collaboration ideas can be conducted. The main ideas that stood out were an English language program, a joint business competition, a sustainable education challenge, and a student exchange program. With these ideas, Friska suggested that UMN and Can Tho can prepare at least three Memorandum of Agreements (MOA).
The meeting also emphasized the importance of sustainability and the two parties’ attention to sustainability and sustainable development goals (SDGs). As the topic of sustainability is rising worldwide, UMN invites Can Tho University to join their “Sustainability Innovation Challenge” (SIC). Learn more about last year’s SIC activity here.
“In 2024, we have one partner from Malaysia, and maybe this year, Can Tho students can join in. All students from each university can network, learn new perspectives, develop problem-solving skills, and solve real case studies from the industry,” Friska said.
Various exciting collaboration ideas were discussed, and the MOA and MOU are in the making. In addition to the meeting, Can Tho University also toured the UMN campus and facilities. We hope the two parties will soon officialize and kick-start their partnership and positively impact higher education, society, and the environment.
