TANGERANG – UMN Pictures has made another achievement through the film “Ahasveros.” The two-dimensional (2D) animated short film won Silver Winner 1 at the 24th DigiCon6 Asia event for the Indonesian region on Friday (9/9/22).
“Ahasveros” is a brief excerpt from the anxiety of the bohemian poet, Chairil Anwar, as a human being, not as a national figure. This fictional film set in the 1940s uses a unique and quite tricky coloring technique, namely black and white (noir).
“As a cultural product, of course, ‘Ahasveros’ is one of the achievements of UMN’s work that will continue to live like Chairil Anwar’s wish to live for another 1,000 years,” said one of the producers of the film “Ahasveros” and a lecturer of UMN Film, Kemal Hasan.

The participating countries include Indonesia, Cambodia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Japan.
Previously, “Ahasveros” had also won various achievements. One of them was the Citra Cup award at the 2021 Indonesian Film Festival for the Best Animated Short Film category. Not only that, but this film was also nominated for an Animated Short Film for the New Directions category at the 2021 Kaboom Animation Festival in the Netherlands. Then, they were also nominated for Best Short Film at the New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival in Japan.
“Ahasveros” is the work of UMN alumni Bobby Fernando as the director, animator, and editor. In addition, this film is also supported by Yenna Mariana as a background artist, Diva Stevania as a painter, Dwi Atmoko Adi as a 3D modeler, Dira Nararyya as a sound designer, Elvaretta Tirta as a composer, and Jeremiah Harvest as a voice actor for Chairil Anwar.
The three producers of this film are UMN lecturers, namely Salima Hakim, Yohannes Merci, and Kemal Hasan. The Deputy Chancellor II of UMN, Andrey Andoko, was also involved as the executive producer.
