TANGERANG – The Faculty of Communication Distance Learning Program of Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) is re-accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional-Perguruan Tinggi/BAN-PT). This assessment process was carried out for two days online, Tuesday to Wednesday (February 28-March 1, 2023), and the results will be announced in about one to two months.
This re-accreditation is carried out as a process of reassessing the quality and qualifications of UMN’s Distance Learning study programs to get a better accreditation rating. On the first day, there was a confirmation process of the data that had been written and collected. A question and answer session was also conducted with the assessors from BAN-PT. Then, the second day is about the delivery and appreciation of the findings and recommendations from the assessors.
The Head of the Faculty of Communication Distance Learning Program, Helga Liliani Cakra Dewi, S.I.Kom., M.Comm., explained that after running for two years since 2021, the study program must be re-accredited. This is done to get an improvement from the previous accreditation when establishing the study program.
Since the study program has been managed, there are already students, and there are already many aspects that must meet the management standards of the study program, it is necessary to apply for re-accreditation.
According to Helga, initially, when aiming to establish the study program and eventually approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the study program has already met the minimum accreditation. After post-two years of establishment, the study program must be re-accredited.

Distance Learning UMN, in this accreditation process, has collected data for the form book from the data on the learning process, student affairs, facilities and infrastructure, lecturer research, and so on.
“We, from the study program since 2022, have prepared forms to collect data and information used by BAN-PT to assess the quality and feasibility of the study program,” she said.
Helga hopes the UMN Faculty of Communication Distance Learning Program will receive a “B” accreditation. So, when UMN graduates their first batch, the UMN Faculty of Communication Distance Learning Program will be able to re-apply for another re-accreditation to be accredited “A” from BAN-PT.
Also involved during the preparation and accreditation process were the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Deans, Lecturers, and UMN staff.
In addition, based on the results of this accreditation, it is hoped that the UMN Faculty of Communication Distance Learning Program will be able to get constructive feedback on what still needs to be improved.
