JAKARTA – The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology again held a welcome home ceremony for the Indonesian International Students Mobility Awards (IISMA) awardees. This activity is the final stage of welcoming the return of IISMA participants consisting of 5 host universities. This activity was carried out online on Thursday (28/3).
The IISMA program, as one of the eight flagship programs of Independent Learning Independent Campus (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka/MBKM) of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the Education Fund Management Agency, has provided a valuable opportunity for 4th to 6th-semester undergraduate students to study at leading universities abroad for one semester. Thus, they can take courses for self-development according to their interests and requirements that apply to overseas partner universities and their home universities.
Recognizing the importance of international collaboration in the development of quality human resources, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), together with representatives of Domestic Universities/Higher Education Institutions Providing Vocational Education and the IISMA Program team, participated in welcoming the return of the 2023 IISMA Awardees.
The event was attended by various important parties, including Prof. Dr. Sri Suning Kusumawardani, S.T., M.T. (Director of Learning and Student Affairs of Higher Education Ristek), Dr. Benny Bandanadjaja, S.T. M.T. (Academic Director of Vocational Higher Education), and Dr. Rachmat Sriwijaya (Head of IISMA 2024 Program).
84 IISMA 2023 Awardees have returned to their homeland from five destination countries, namely Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. They come from various public and private universities in Indonesia, such as Bandung Institute of Technology, Gadjah Mada University, University of Indonesia, and others.
In the handover event held online through the Zoom Meeting/Webinar media on Thursday, March 28, 2024, the Awardees were given the opportunity to share their experiences and lessons learned during the program abroad. This is expected to inspire other students to develop their insights and abilities in the international arena.
In addition, UMN also celebrated the return of three of their students who were part of the IISMA 2023 Awardees. They are Felicia Slavina, Belinda Rosalyn, and Bernadette Christie Godiva. Their success in completing the program reflects UMN’s commitment to supporting students in pursuing international learning opportunities.
“With the end of the IISMA 2023 program, we hope that the Awardees can continue to implement the experience and knowledge they have gained to support Indonesia’s vision of becoming a superior nation in the global arena,” Dr. Rachmat Sriwijaya, Head of the IISMA 2024 Program, said.
In addition, UMN’s Vice-Rector for Relations and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Muliawati G. Siswanto, M.Eng.Sc., was also present and expressed her hopes for the event.
“Through this scholarship program, it is hoped that the participants can gain experience for the future. Participants can grow and develop themselves relevant to the needs of the times. And can make Indonesia and their respective universities proud,” Dr. Muliawati concluded.
