TANGERANG – Three VCD UMN lecturers have conducted research collaborations with several institutions and universities at the global level. Their research proposal was awarded the Australia Indonesia Knowledge and Innovation Collaboration (KONEKSI) grant on Tuesday (6/6/23).
KONEKSI is a research grant program from the collaboration between the Australian and Indonesian governments. The 2023 grant program focuses on environmental issues and climate change.
There are 600 research proposals collected in this program. Of that total, only 20 researchers got prestigious research grants from the Australian government.
Three UMN lecturers collaborate with several institutions and universities at the global level in the KONEKSI research grant program (Doc. UMN).
The research team involving UMN’s VCD lecturers carries the research title “Enabling Children as Agents of Change Through Inclusive Edugames on Climate Change and Disaster Resilience.” This research uses an edugames approach to educate about climate change.
“For the next year, edugames will focus on children in Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi, but it does not rule out the possibility of being replicated and distributed to other disaster-prone areas at the next opportunity,” explained one of the VCD UMN lecturers involved in this research, Aditya Satyagraha, S.Sn., M.Ds..
The edugames approach is used to develop critical and creative thinking and effectively communicate risks. Aditya also revealed that these edugames will be designed to be inclusive so that they are friendly to people with disabilities.
Therefore, various parties will also be involved in the design and evaluation process for one year of research until July 2024. The research results will later become a guideline for the team to produce the right edugames output. Aditya also said that UMN students would be included in the edugames plan.
Besides Aditya, Fonita Theresia Yoliando, S.Ds., M.A. and Lia Herna, S.Sn., M.Ds. are also two VCD UMN lecturers involved in this inclusive research. Through this opportunity, Fonita, also the Head of UMN’s VCD Study Program, said that the Study Program will continue to be committed to opening national and international collaborations.
“UMN’s VCD Study Program always opens opportunities and potential for the involvement of lecturers and students in various national and international programs by collaborating with the government, industry, and other universities. This program is very positive and will continue to be developed in accordance with the strength and uniqueness of UMN’s VCD Study Program,” said Fonita.
