Tangerang – Alyssa Azzahra Arifin is a 2022 Strategic Communication student involved in the Garuda Nusa Youth Summit 2 Volunteer program. Out of hundreds of participants, she successfully passed the selection stage from start to finish. She also received the Most Active Delegates award.
The Garuda Nusa Youth Summit 2 Volunteer Program is an NGO Garuda Nusa Foundation Volunteering Program that students (school and college) in Indonesia can follow. The program runs from 4 – 12 February 2024. There are several programs in this Volunteer Garuda Nusa Youth Summit 2, namely International Volunteer, Campus Visit, Youth Conference, and Culture Exchange. This program is also held in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
The selection process to participate in the Garuda Nusa Youth Summit 2 Program has four stages. Alyssa registered through the fully funded route. The first stage is file selection and filling out forms, and the second stage is taking a substance test, where participants take a test of SDG knowledge in Indonesia.
The third stage is LGD (Leaderless Group Discussion). The participants who passed the previous stage will be divided into groups to discuss trendy topics and randomly selected by the Garuda Nusa Team.
The last stage is the public test, and all participants who make it to this stage will be tested to show whether they deserve to qualify to become Garuda Nusa Youth Summit 2 delegates.

“After passing this selection stage, there are many things that need to be prepared, starting from departure preparation to the programs that each group will organize,” Alyssa said in an interview.
The first activity that Alyssa participated in in Singapore was visiting the Indonesian Embassy to chat with Mr. Juviano, the coordinator of the socio-cultural information function of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.
Another activity followed by Alyssa in Malaysia was the Cikgu Challenge, where Alyssa became a teacher and taught the children of Indonesian foreign exchange heroes at PPWNI Klang Selangor, Malaysia. The program that Alyssa participated in was KELEDAI or Kenali Lebih dalam Indonesia Ku (Get to Know My Indonesia Better)
In the last activity, Alyssa had the opportunity to be a representative in a youth exchange with Thai students from Yala, Hatyai, and Songkhla. She presented about the culture in Indonesia. The last activity that Alyssa participated in was a Youth Conference with the Thai Government related to 12 SGD and education in Indonesia.
Alyssa not only participated in the programs organized, but she also received the Most Active Delegates award. This is certainly very memorable for her, starting with the delegates’ friends and how Alyssa’s friends support each other.
“I feel very happy to be able to get new experiences outside of lectures, to be involved in service, and to add more insight into education,” Alyssa said.
