UMN and UnSri’s collaboration has been selected for the Batch 1 Bangkit 2023 Program. This program is held by Google, GoTo, and Traveloka. It aims to hone soft skills, technical abilities, and the English language skills of Indonesian students. In addition, this program also provides global certifications needed by the industry today, namely Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, and Mobile Development.
This program provides students with asynchronous learning at the beginning through the Dicoding, Coursera, and Google Cloud Skill Boost platforms and synchronous learning through instructor-led training, with a capstone project output that has two paths: company-based capstone and the creation of products that can solve social problems or product-based capstone.
Students will be divided into groups and complete a given case study. Those with the best projects will have the opportunity to receive funding of Rp140,000,000 from Google and Higher Education to develop the project.
A total of 4,079 students were selected and graduated from this program. A total of 812 capstone projects were created, and 29 projects became the best projects, 9 of which were the best company-based capstone and 20 were the best product-based capstone.
UMN student representatives who were selected from the informatics study program are Reynard Matthew Yaputra, Yoga Aditya, and Nehemia Gueldi. Representatives from Sriwijaya University students are Nadya Angelia, Andelle Gianzra Basae, and Hanny Putri Gayatri. The group qualified on the product-based capstone project track.
The result of their product-based capstone project is “HireHub.” Out of 20 product-based capstones, HireHub made it to the incubation stage. The hope is that this selection can be released and useful in the community.
“Our group chose HireHub because we want to focus on employment because many platforms are quite difficult and, there are many recruitment processes, and communication is also not smooth. The differentiator of HireHub is that we develop this application solidly, creatively, and innovatively in the uproar of recruitment applications that lack innovation,” Reynard said, a representative of HireHub.
Reynard and the team were delighted when the app was selected, but of course, they felt panic because of the huge responsibility. In addition, each member still had a busy schedule, but their team still tried to have fun in this process. Their team will use this funding to continue to develop the app, expand the team, and use the funds wisely.
The selection of students is done nationally, and we choose students who are competent enough. During this process, students also get guidance from lecturers who are capable in this field of competition. Besides that, there is also guidance from Bangkit itself.
“We hope that the skills gained can continue to be developed because they are very useful for the future. Especially in the field of information systems, especially intelligent systems,” said Vasty, the head of the engineering and informatics study program.
