This general lecture aims to make students wiser in managing finances, as well as educating students to be more literate about finance, such as investments in the capital market, money market, online loans, and many more.
The material presented by OJK discussed “Strengthening Digital and Financial Literacy and Awareness.” Horas V. M Tarihoran presented this material as Director of Financial Literacy and Education OJK. The material discusses financial literacy broadly. Besides that, he also provides important information to students.
One of the current topics often discussed is online loans; many people still need to be educated more about online loans or digital lending. So here, OJK has a big role in regulating, supervising, and protecting the public.
“If you want to use digital lending, learn about its legality at OJK; don’t just borrow online. Interest rates on online loans are high because the risk is also high, unlike banks,” said Horas in his presentation.
He also gave tips for students to understand more about digital finance today.
“If we want to invest, borrow money online, or others, we need to understand the product features and risks, understand the costs such as admin interest, so we know what is needed, we also as consumers need to know our rights and obligations”, he continued in delivering the material.
Following this general class, the second session was continued by Eko Agus Prasetyo Endarto, S.E., M.M., as UMN’s Management Study Program Lecturer. The material was also about “How To Manage Our Money Easily.”
“What makes us fail to become rich is that we cannot manage our finances. The three things we need to think about in managing money are current, future, and past money, ” he explained in the seminar.
Maychelle Vincent, CFP, QWP, AWP, as Senior Financial Consultant of PINA, presented the next material. In this session, she discussed fintech (financial technology). Fintech itself is two things that meet, namely digital and finance. This fintech makes it easier for humans in their daily lives.
“Fintech does not take time, so it is easy, concise, fast, efficient and not confusing. But from all the conveniences and shortcomings, there are risks and costs. For example, if we order food, we pay for shipping,” said Vincent.
This general lecture certainly adds insight for students and tips on fintech, starting from the advantages and disadvantages. This will help students to be more educated in the use of digital finance.
