Tangerang – LSPR Film Festival is a film competition event on (24/06). One of UMN’s students won the Best Scriptwriter nomination with a script that brings the theme of sexual violence survivors. The script is not merely to join the competition but also to raise the voices of women survivors of sexual violence.
Erven Jovanka Sutedja is a UMN Film student class of 2020. Since the first semester, she has had an interest in film and a talent for scriptwriting. Seeing her hobby and talent, she participated in the LSPR Film Festival 2023. The LSPR campus holds this Film Festival.
This LSPR Film Festival has several nomination categories in its field, such as best director, best editor, best actor, and best scriptwriter. Held for one day on (24/06). Erven received a nomination for best scriptwriter in the movie “Aral Melintang.”
In the selection process, Production House Erven asked to send the script file that has been made and notified by email if it passes the selection. During the process of writing this script, it did not take a long time because this script was written for production on the final project of one of the film courses at UMN.
“Before entering the world of lectures, I already liked writing, ranging from poetry and short stories to songs. I think writing is a place where I can pour out my heart, and it becomes a form of therapy for me,” she said in an interview.
Writing this script, Erven took the theme of the story being a survivor of sexual violence and society’s view of it. During the writing of this script, she also had plenty of conversations with survivors of sexual violence. Some of them also felt represented by the script and the movie.
“It is certainly an honor for me to get my very first award, and the fact that the script I wrote represents the voices of survivors of sexual violence. This makes me touched by all of the appreciation. This award will encourage me to continue voicing the voices of all women,” she concluded.
