June 3, 2024Tangerang – UMN student team won the Ideathon Competition on (28/05) in Palawan, Philippines. The UMN team won 1st place in the Smart City category, consisting of Management, Accounting, Computer Engineering, and VCD study programs.
The Ideathon Competition is an international competition organized by UNIIC (University Incubator Consortium), a forum for new startups and business ideas. UNIIC comprises 17 universities in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, and South Africa. This technology-based business idea competition has five categories: Smart Cities, Climate Action, Food Innovation, Agriculture, and Health and Wellness.
The 2024 Ideathon Competition was held on May 27-28, 2024, in Palawan, Philippines. Students were selected based on criteria UNIIC itself assesses regarding idea innovation, social impact, teamwork, communication, and business feasibility.
The UMN Student Team is selected from representatives across study programs: Management, Accounting, VCD, Physics Engineering, and Computer Engineering. Two teams from UMN have been sent to participate in this competition.
The first team in the Smart Citylink category is the winning team. The team consists of Valencia Antoinette, the team leader from the Management Study Program; Veronica, from the VCD Study Program; Listi Irma Indriani, from the Accounting Study Program; and Juan Terror Tjandra, from the Computer Engineering Study Program. The UMN team has been preparing for this competition since the end of February 2024.
Dr. Elissa, the student’s supervisor, felt very proud of the UMN team’s achievement in this international competition.
“I feel proud and happy. The team of supervising lecturers consisting of me, Mrs. Purmaningsih, Mr. Niki, Mr. Dareen, Mrs. Patrice, and Mrs. Fonita has provided intensive guidance so that the two groups can participate in the competition optimally,” Elissa said.
