October 23, 2024Tangerang – Christopher Edbert Setiabudi, a dedicated student from the Strategic Communication program at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), has proudly secured second place at the Asian Karate Federation (AKF) Championship, held from August 23 to 25, 2024, in the Philippines. Known affectionately as Christo, he previously shone at the South East Asian Karate Federation Championship (SEAKF) in April 2024, where he clinched a gold medal. This latest achievement highlights his relentless commitment to excellence in martial arts and represents a significant milestone in his athletic journey.
Christo shared his excitement about competing at the AKF Championship, expressing pride in representing Indonesia against some of the top athletes from across Asia. “The experience was exhilarating, and I felt honored to showcase my skills on such a prestigious stage,” he said.
Looking ahead, he is also preparing for the National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh, scheduled for September 2024, and the World Karate Federation (WKF) Championship in Italy in October 2024.
“I always maintain an optimistic mindset and confidence because I have prepared thoroughly. Results will surely reflect the effort put in,” he noted,demonstrating his positive outlook and determination.
Balancing his studies with rigorous training, Christo appreciates the support UMN has provided, including attendance allowances for his competitions. He expressed gratitude for the university’s role in enabling him to pursue both his academic and athletic goals.
“UMN has played a crucial role by providing attendance dispensations and other assistance while I fulfill my responsibilities representing the country,” he said.
Since childhood, Christo has been adept at managing his time between academics and training, often seeking help from classmates and professors to stay on top of his studies.
