TANGERANG – Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China State Construction Fourth Engineering Division Corp on Wednesday (21/06/23). In addition to the MoU signing, the two representations also discussed potential future collaborations.
Two China Construction representatives visited UMN to conduct the MoU signing and discussion. They are Chen Junze, (Human Resource (HR) Manager, China, Vice-General Manager Indonesia), and Primadi Chandra Susanto (Supervisor of Human Capital Management).
Several UMN representatives welcomed the two China Construction representatives. They are Ika Yanuarti, S.E., M.S.F, CSA (Vice Rector for Student Affairs), Dr. Eng. Niki Prastomo, S.T., M.Sc. (Dean of Engineering and Informatics), Irma Desiyana, S.Ars., M.Arch. (Head of Architecture Study Program), Ahmad Syahril Muharrom, S.Pd.,M.T. In summary, the collaboration will focus on recruitment, internship collaboration, and possible full-time positions for UMN students and alumni. These collaborations will be implemented through various programs such as job postings, career days, and campus hiring activities.
In addition, China State Construction will also be able to assist in the development of UMN students’ and alumni’s career skills and knowledge through seminars and workshops. China State Construction may be able to recruit high-quality UMN students and alumni.
The meeting was then continued with a brief presentation by the UMN representatives regarding the Engineering and Informatics & Arts and Design Faculty. The purpose is to find any similarities or connections with the construction industry. It is found multiple courses in the Engineering and Informatics & Arts and Design Faculty that can benefit from UMN and China State Construction’s collaboration.
“Our department (architecture) teaches students about small to big projects like Transit-Oriented Development, Mixed-Use Building, and Mixed-Use Development. We also use tools like Beam,” Irma said. Responding to this, Chen said that beam is very helpful in construction projects.
The China State Construction representative, Primadi, continued the discussion by briefly sharing the work life working in China State Construction. He shared that their office in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) is the office of China State Construction’s Indonesia representative.

“China State Construction is a Chinese state-owned company that has opened representative offices in almost all countries– Indonesia being one of them. We have approximately 136 employees from various countries,” Primadi said. In addition to Indonesian workers, they also employ expats from China.
Primadi then mentioned that there’s a current ongoing project that UMN and China State Construction can do together. He said they need human resources from UMN for a project in Morowali. To pique UMN’s interest, Primadi shared the many benefits workers get when working with China State Construction.
“For Indonesian citizens, we send them to school to study in their respective fields.
For example, in the field of construction, we see what the needs are, we pay 100%, and certificates are given to employees,” Primadi said.
The perks don’t stop there. Employees who live far away can also live in accommodations provided by China State Construction located in PIK for free. They may also receive free transportation daily from their accommodation to the office and free meals three times a day.
“So there is no need to worry about self-development. We genuinely look at the key performance indicators. If the employee is indeed good, we will give a certificate of appreciation once a month and a bonus once every 4 months,” he added.
As an HR who is also a lecturer, he happily shared that the company also accepts fresh graduates and even prefers them. China State Construction wants to provide an opportunity for fresh graduates to receive job experiences and build their careers.

“This collaboration will not stop only in recruitment. we understand that campuses also need industry partners to support tri dharma. Lecturers can conduct their Community Service with us,” Primadi said.
As a Chinese company with Chinese expats in the Indonesian office, it would be more valuable if the Indonesian employees could speak at least basic Mandarin. Primadi said that fresh graduates who can speak Mandarin could receive an attractive salary of IDR 10-14 million. Although, mandarin is unnecessary as long as they can speak English.
Responding to this, Boby, the Global Office Manager, said that plenty of UMN students can speak in Mandarin. This also encourages UMN to have a Mandarin language program in UMN where students can learn Mandarin.
There are many other ideas that both UMN and China State Construction shared during this meeting. It is hoped that both parties can soon realize the collaboration and positively contribute to the industry.
