November 8, 2023Tangerang – UMN is committed to achieving 100% energy efficiency by 2050, aligning with Indonesia’s national target to promote sustainable development and reduce environmental impact. This ambitious goal reflects UMN’s dedication to fostering a campus that is not only eco-friendly but also a leader in sustainability efforts. By implementing sustainability policy and integrating them through energy-saving practices, efficient systems, and sustainable planning into campus operations, UMN aims to significantly reduce its energy consumption and carbon footprint over the next several years.
In pursuit of this goal, UMN has adopted multiple strategies that cover all aspects of campus energy use. From installing energy-efficient lighting and equipment to optimizing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, every detail is considered to maximize energy savings. Additionally, UMN promotes energy-conscious behavior among students and staff, encouraging simple yet impactful habits like switching off lights, using energy-saving devices, and reducing unnecessary energy use. These initiatives collectively support the shift toward a sustainable, low-energy campus environment. In addition, we encourage communities beyond UMN to engage with and commit to the shift toward 100% renewable energy, by collaborating with Government and NGO.
Looking toward 2050, UMN plans to continually advance its energy efficiency programs and embrace innovative technologies that further support sustainability. Future steps include exploring renewable energy sources such as solar power, integrating smart energy management systems, and expanding green building practices. By setting a high standard for energy efficiency, UMN aims to contribute meaningfully to national sustainability targets and inspire other institutions to prioritize environmental responsibility.
