March 26, 2024TANGERANG – UCSI University Malaysia has appointed UMN Rector Dr. Ninok Leksono, M.A., as a visiting professor. The former senior journalist of Kompas Daily was able to share insights about the humanities with the academic community at the leading private university in the neighboring country.
“What is shared is, of course, communication science in general and journalism in particular. Because I have just been appointed [as a visiting professor], the actual experience will only be obtained in the coming months,” Ninok said via text message on Monday (22/3).
Ninok said the visiting professor appointment had been set for 2020. However, technical arrangements were halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This opportunity also proves that UMN is a trusted educational institution to share knowledge at foreign universities. Ninok plans to not only share knowledge but also become an agent to increase mutual understanding between the two peoples.
UCSI University is one of UMN’s partners in Malaysia that has worked together in many ways, from providing guest lectures to this visiting professor program. UMN’s Vice-Rector for Relations and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Muliawati G. Siswanto, M.Eng.Sc., said that UMN has also appointed and appreciated several of UCSI University’s best lecturers as visiting professors at UMN.
“There are some [from UCSI University Malaysia who are visiting professors at UMN]. For example, Prof. Dr. Cham Tat Huei,” Muliawati said.
Not only UCSI University, Muliawati also mentioned that many universities within and outside the country collaborate with UMN. At least, she said that it has been around 15 years since UMN managed to carry out good cooperation with a number of universities. Muliawati also hopes that there will be more visiting professors from universities that collaborate with UMN.
“We have invited many guest lecturers, as well as sent many of our best students to study at a higher level [such as] Master’s. Many lecturers have also managed to get their Doctorate degrees,” Muliawati explained.
