Tangerang – On Tuesday (28/10), Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) inaugurated a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) collaboration with the Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation. This collaboration is an integral part of UMN and the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation to continue to develop together to sow goodness.
The Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation is an NGO (Non-Profit Organization) established in 1966 by Master Cheng Yen, a Bhikksuni (Buddhist Nun). It is engaged in social humanitarianism across ethnicities, religions, races, and countries based on the principle of universal love. Currently, the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation has developed hospitals and institutions and is recognized by the United Nations.
“The Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation is incredible. I hope that through this collaboration, the 10,000 students at UMN can become better because we can see that the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation has done a lot of good,” Prof. Dr. Muliawati G. Siswanto, M.Eng.Sc., UMN Vice-Rector for Relations and Cooperation said.
This collaboration between UMN and the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation will uphold the values of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The partnership also includes teaching or training, research, knowledge development by experts, academic discussions, and much more.
“I am sure that the collaboration between UMN and Tzu Chi can produce many outputs, such as community service, alternative energy development, and recycling. We can do good deeds not just through money but through energy, thoughts, and good ideas,” Hong Tjhin, Secretary of the Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation, said.
With the cooperation formalized today, Hong hopes that UMN and the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation can do good deeds, feel a good impact, and ignite the light of life.
In addition, UMN is also open to cooperation in career fields such as recruitment, careers, and community service with LPPM UMN. This collaboration with the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation is hoped to positively impact and empower the community.
“We are very open to all cooperation, especially cooperation with NGOs, and by instilling the Kompas Group 5C values,” Muliawati concluded.
