TANGERANG – UMN’s Faculty of Art and Design together with ASWARA Academy Malaysia, created a music video entitled “Assalamualaikum.” This cross-country collaboration project will be released on UMN and ASWARA Academy social media on Friday (21/4).
Songwriter and lecturer of Audio Post Production for Music & Film, Adhitya Indrayuana, revealed the implied meaning behind the song “Assalamualaikum.” One feeling that at least wants to be conveyed through this song is the happiness of welcoming Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. The song, which was worked on in approximately one month, is also full of introspective values.
“Because in that month, all doors of apologies will be opened, and humans will return to zero. Asking for and giving forgiveness is mandatory, especially during Ramadan and Eid, because as humans, we will not escape mistakes,” continued Adhitya, who also actively teaches the “Sound Design” course at UMN’s Film Study Program.

Adhitya was not alone in preparing this Ramadan-themed song. In total, there are two UMN film students who helped with the mixing and mastering process, namely Hanna Nasya (Film 2020) and Archieta Aditya (Film 2021).
In addition, the Head of UMN’s VCD Study Program, Fonita Theresia Yoliando, S.Ds., M.A., and UMN VCD student, Jeniosa Efrata, were also involved in this project. They created 3D motion graphics for the “Assalamualaikum” music video. Previously, ASWARA Academy also participated in the vocal recording process for this song.
“Students and lecturers from both universities will also be registered as the IPR [Intellectual Property Rights] owners of this song and video clip,” Fonita said.
Dean of UMN’s Faculty of Arts & Design, Muhammad Cahya Mulya Daulay, S.Sn., M.Ds., revealed that this synergy is based on the similarity of cultural backgrounds and interest in Nusantara culture. According to him, this collaboration can also be the first step in uniting various cultural components academically.
“The Faculty of Arts & Design UMN really welcomes this collaboration opportunity so that it can expand the range of knowledge in the form of academic studies, scientific publications, work exhibitions, and other active activities,” Cahya explained regarding The Faculty of Arts & Design UMN’s collaboration plans with ASWARA Academy in the future.
Previously, the commitment to cooperation between UMN and ASWARA Academy Malaysia had been rumored to be realized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday (7/3). This visit also began the idea to make a music video for “Assalamualaikum.”
