Tangerang, August 1, 2024 – One of UMN’s lecturers, Maria Advenita Gita Elmada, a Communication for Sustainable Development course lecturer, was one of the speakers at The 1st LSPR Sustainability & Public Relations Summit 2024. LSPR Institute of Communication & Business organized this prestigious event in collaboration with PT Astra International Tbk, which took place at Catur Dharma Hall, Menara Astra.
With the theme “The Role of Public Relations in Communicating Sustainable Practices,” the summit emphasized the crucial role of public relations in integrating and promoting sustainability principles in corporate and organizational communications.
Maria Advenita Gita Elmada, the Coordinator of Cooperation for the Faculty of Communication Sciences at UMN, is actively involved in various sustainability initiatives. In this event, she delivered an in-depth presentation on sustainability communication. In her presentation, Maria highlighted the critical role of communication in driving a sustainable future through informed, inclusive, and impactful discussions.
Maria discussed the importance of aligning vision, culture, and image (VCI) for effective corporate sustainability communication. She emphasized that consistency between these elements is critical to building trust and credibility, thus driving long-term success and positively impacting society.
Maria’s extensive involvement in sustainability includes membership in the Climate Change Working Group at the International Environmental Communication Association (IECA), observation at UNFCCC COP 28 in Dubai, and membership in the National Tsunami Ready Board and Catalyst 2030 Indonesia Chapter. She also works closely with organizations such as UNESCO, BRIN, and BMKG, focusing on disaster risk reduction and engaging youth and communities in sustainability efforts.
Maria Advenita Gita Elmada’s participation in this event aligns with UMN’s commitment to continuing to be an agent of change through its sustainability vision and mission. UMN is committed to supporting and encouraging sustainable development through education, research, and community service and to actively shaping a better future for future generations.
