September 2, 2022TANGERANG – Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), the greenest private campus in Jakarta, was chosen to host the “UI GreenMetric 2022 Workshop”. They raised the theme “Collective Actions for Transforming Sustainable Universities in the Post-Pandemic Time” this time. This workshop will be a hybrid event at the UMN campus on 30-31 August 2022.
UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is a ranking system of world-class universities for implementing environmentally friendly and sustainable campus activities. This ranking system has been implemented since 2010. In 2021, as many as 956 universities from 79 countries worldwide participated, and UMN managed to rank 146 in the world.
Climate change has changed the entire world, and many people globally have been demanding climate justice. Therefore, sustainability and other climate change actions are important. Universities are a large organization that has significantly contributed to emissions – the climate crisis, making ambitious and tangible sustainability actions crucial.
The best universities around the world, including UMN, have been striving to make a difference and fight for the future of our planet. This workshop activity is expected to increase commitment, increase higher education participation in green campus management, and increase university awareness of sustainability. The following are the objectives and targets of the 2022 UI GreenMetric Workshop discussion:
- Raising awareness of the importance of sustainable environmental management in universities.
- Increase commitment and expand participation of higher education programs in green campus management.
- Broaden and deepen the knowledge of all participants to increase Indonesia’s contribution to achieving the 2030 SDGs, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Encouraging real change to act on emerging global challenges through sustainable global cooperation.
