Tangerang – The organization of the Culinary Week and Promotion of Medang MSME Products POKDARWIS is carried out with the UMN Hospitality and Film study programs. This activity is a form of grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture.
On (06/06), the Culinary Week and Product Promotion activities were held with Medang MSMEs and UMN. This activity is in the form of training and materials. Attended by Oqke Prawira, SST.Par, M.Si.Par., the Head of the Hospitality Department; Adestya Ayu Armielia, SST.Par, M.Si.Par., Hospitality lecturer; Adin, S.E., the Head of the Medang Village Community Empowerment Section; and Nuri Nurzikri, the Head of the Tourism Awareness Group.
In the same opportunity, UMN and the Medang Village MSMEs also accepted grants in the form of work tools from the Ministry of Education and Culture. The participants involved in this activity were MSME business actors in Medang Village. There were 20 MSMEs involved and received this grant. Apart from getting grants, UMN also provides training to help MSME players continue to develop, and four materials are given to participants.
“We are very grateful to UMN for giving materials and knowledge to the Medang urban village, providing services, and actively providing knowledge to MSME players in Medang. With approximately 20 MSMEs in Medang, we can help the local products here,” said Adin during the event’s opening session.
The first material was about service quality, presented by Oqke. The material explained how to provide good service to customers to achieve customer satisfaction. With good service, they can also retain existing customers and attract new customers. In addition to the discussion about service quality, Oqke also discussed the MSME Business Development Strategy.
“In running a business, it is important for us to innovate or develop. The first is for sustainability, to maintain competitiveness, and to maintain business continuity. The second is growth, of course, to increase sales and profits of MSMEs. The last is diversification, which expands products or services and markets,” Oqke said when presenting his material.
This training was continued (07/06), and ratification of grants was also conducted. Two other materials were presented by UMN, starting with a presentation by Adestya discussing Cost Control.
Adestya said in the material, “Cost control aims to reduce expenses. We can identify and reduce unnecessary expenses, which is effective in increasing profit margins. We can also optimize the use of existing resources, finally maintaining long-term business finances.”
The last material is Creative Branding. Here, UMN provides material and practice using the Canva application, starting with making MSME logos and presentations for MSMEs and making easy videos using Canva.
“This activity is very extraordinary. POKDARWIS is a forum for people who need a helping hand, and the government and the village itself are very helpful and supportive. This form of grant benefits MSME players in terms of knowledge and opportunities. This form of training also helps MSMEs in accelerating the growth of MSMEs,” Nuri said in an interview.
Sri Wijayanti, one of the participants, said, “This activity is very positive and helps MSMEs in the development process, especially regarding technical and marketing matters. It helps development both internally and externally. Hopefully, this activity will be able to help MSMEs if there is a bazaar or festival.”
