May 10, 2020TANGERANG – There is a very broad impact both in terms of social to economic due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, encouraging Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) to participate in helping the community around UMN. UMN through the Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) held UMN Peduli Masyarakat COVID-19 activities on Tuesday (13/4).
Through UMN Peduli activities that will take place over the next 30 days, UMN distributed 100 packs of free lunch in front of the UMN campus. This lunch distribution is intended for the community around UMN and informal workers such as online motorcycle taxi drivers.
UMN peduli activities are opened by giving lunch to people who live in front of umn campus, namely Curug Sangereng village. Umn Peduli’s event was also attended by the Director of LPPM UMN, Dr. Ir. PM Winarno, M.Kom.
According to the Head of Community Service of LPPM UMN, Indiwan Seto Wahjuwibowo, umn peduli activity is one form of umn’s concern and contribution to the community and informal workers around the UMN campus affected by the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
“The extraordinary impact of COVID-19 is the disruption of widespread community activities, especially with the implementation of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) policies, not least the condition of online motorcycle taxi drivers who are very limited in their movements and marginalized people who are affected and also slightly lighten their burden through free lunch from UMN,” explained Indiwan.
Administrative Assistant of LPPM UMN, Setiaji Santoso said in this activity, LPPM UMN invited several parties, both internal umn and external parties UMN.
“Many parties related to this event, ranging from UMN Security and UMN Building Management have helped prepare for the event. In addition, we also cooperate with each BUMDES (Village Owned Enterprise) for LPPM UMN To distribute assistance, “said Setiaji.
Not only that, Setiaji also revealed that UMN Peduli’s activities received a positive response from the people who received assistance.
“The response from them was very good, they were enthusiastic, felt very happy and helped in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak,” Setiaji said.
In addition to providing assistance in the form of free lunch, with THIS UMN Peduli activity Indiwan said UMN plans to provide other assistance for LPPM UMN-built villages namely Sengereng Curug Village, Lengkong Kulon Village and Serdang Wetan Village.
“The plan is that the UMN campus will help a number of UMN-built villages with the provision of sembako, and equipment or disinfectant sprayers or mosquito sprayers as part of the love and devotion of the campus to the residents of the built village,” concluded Indiwan.
