Several lecturers and students from Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) recently carried out a Community Service Ministry Grant. This grant activity targets culinary MSMEs in Legok Village, Tangerang, Banten.
“We see great potential in increasing the competitiveness and market reach of culinary MSMEs through digital technology,” said the Chief Executive and Lecturer of the UMN Information Systems Study Program, Melissa Indah Fianty, when contacted by UMN News Service on Wednesday (31/07/2024).
In addition, Melissa revealed that digitizing culinary MSMEs, including by using e-commerce websites, can increase MSME access to a broader market, introduce their products effectively, and increase operational efficiency.

In its implementation, this activity is divided into three stages. In the first stage, Melissa and several other lecturers and students implemented a website for the culinary MSME “Putri Home Cooking” in Legok Village on Thursday (25/07/2024). They introduced that the website related to this MSME has been released and is ready for customers to use.
In the second stage, UMN provided training and mentoring related to the marketing management of MSME businesses, such as market trends, customer preferences, and the best ways to increase customer interaction on e-commerce platforms or social media. Twenty MSMEs in Legok Village attended this activity on Monday (07/29/2024).
Also, MSMEs are taught how to utilize the tools and features available in e-commerce and social media to promote their businesses. The goal is for these MSMEs to reach more new customers, retain old customers, and increase business growth.
“We hope that with an e-commerce website, culinary MSMEs can more easily reach new customers and retain old customers. We also hope that this digitalization can increase sales and the popularity of these MSMEs,” Melissa said again.
To support this activity, Melissa was assisted by two executive lecturers and five students from the Information Systems and Physics study programs.
