TANGERANG – The Multimedia Nusantara University Research and Community Service Institute (Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat/LPPM), together with the East Sepatan District, Tangerang Regency, held a Community Service Program (Pegabdian Pada Masyarakat/PKM), regarding the Socialization of the Introduction to the Magfin Application (Maggot Finance). This event was held at the East Sepatan sub-district office on Wednesday (21/12/2022).
The event was attended by East Sepatan District government officials, the Head of Service Bureau of UMN’s University Research and Community Service Institute, Andy Firmansyah, S.I.Kom., M.M.; a team of UMN lecturers chaired by Angga Aditya Permana, S.Kom., M.Kom.; and members Adhi Kusnadi, S.T., M.Si.; Yaman Khaeruzzaman, B.Sc. M.Sc;, Wirawan Istiono, S.Kom., M.Kom.; and Alexander Waworuntu, S.Kom., M.T.I.
According to Angga, waste is a severe problem if it cannot be managed properly. One way to manage waste, especially organic waste, is by bioconversion using the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae, also known as maggots.
Maggot has many benefits, including animal feed such as chickens, ducks, birds and fish. Dirt from maggot is called maggot waste (bekas maggot/kasgot) which can be used as plant fertilizer.
The Tangerang Regency Regent’s program, namely bioconversion using maggot for all organic waste, has begun to be implemented by one of the areas in the East Sepatan District. The place is known as Kampung Tempe in Jatimulya Village, pioneered by the Tangerang Maggot Community (Komunitas Maggot Tangerang/Kammagota).
Angga explained that currently, maggot cultivation is going well in the TEMPE village environment. But there are problems when recording maggot buying and selling transactions using a notebook.
“It is challenging to recap reports. Therefore this activity is carried out to help overcome these problems. So that financial management from Kammagota can be stored properly and neatly and can be seen in real-time,” he said.

Based on these problems, UMN lecturers were moved to create a program initiated as an initiative for Tangerang Regency, “Application of Maggot Cultivation and Garbage Banks as Innovations and Solutions to Problems of Waste, Animal Feed, and Agricultural Fertilizer in the Integrated Animal Husbandry Concept.”
Andy explained that this program applies solutions and activities related to these three fields in one location. It is hoped that it can help realize the superior program of the Tangerang Regency Regent, in particular, to provide appropriate applications that are very useful in managing the financial reporting of Kammagota and the residents of Tempe village.
“So that it can be accessed anytime and anywhere using an Android-based smartphone and realizing an orderly financial reporting administration. So that all data and transactions can be stored very well and used whenever needed,” Andy said.
