UMN’s Commitment to Advancing Education Through Public Lectures and Community Events
November 8, 2023Advancing Global Equity: UMN Provides Educational Access for International Students from Developing Countries
November 8, 2023Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) is firmly committed to upholding equality, ensuring that every individual—regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, immigration status, or marital status—can access educational and professional opportunities within the university community. This commitment is enshrined in UMN’s inclusivity policy, detailed in the Rector’s Decree on Inclusiveness, which lays out the framework for equitable access across all aspects of campus life, from academic offerings to public engagement initiatives.
UMN’s policy ensures respect and support for students with disabilities, including neurodiverse individuals, guaranteeing their full participation in academic programs and campus events. The university actively facilitates access to both onsite and online education for all, removing barriers that might limit individuals based on their backgrounds or identities. This inclusive approach extends beyond UMN’s campus to outreach programs, including community service activities that UMN conducts without any form of discrimination. Public lectures and events hosted by the university are also open to everyone, embodying UMN’s principle of equal access.
Supporting fair access to employment, UMN has established comprehensive guidelines within the Employment Regulations of the Multimedia Nusantara Foundation, officially ratified by the Tangerang Regency Manpower Office (Decree No. 560/738/Disnaker). These regulations ensure that job placement and advancement opportunities are provided fairly, recognizing the equal rights of all employees and providing specific provisions for individuals with disabilities. Rector’s Decree No. 234/SK-R/VI/2022 further emphasizes the rights of employees with disabilities, guaranteeing equal pay for the same work as their non-disabled peers, reasonable accommodations, and opportunities for career growth.
In its mission to create an accessible academic environment, UMN established the Disability Service Unit under Rector’s Decree No. 271/SK-R/VII/2022. This unit specifically supports students with disabilities, working to break down barriers that might prevent them from accessing higher education. Through this unit, UMN seeks to make the higher education experience inclusive and accessible for all, aligning with UMN’s broader commitment to uphold equal rights and respect for diversity across its community.
By embedding inclusivity into the core of its operations, UMN actively promotes a culture of mutual respect, dignity, and opportunity, guaranteeing that everyone in its community—students, staff, and visitors—can fully and meaningfully participate in the university’s activities, regardless of their backgrounds.
