June 26, 2022TANGERANG – Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), together with Petra Christian University Surabaya (Petra University), held a joint discussion on the management of campus’ infrastructure and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on the Independent Learning Independent Campus (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka/MBKM) program.
The MOU signing was represented by the Chancellor of UMN, Dr. Ninok Leksono, M.A., and the Vice-Chancellor for Resources at Petra University, Agus Arianto Toly, S.E., Ak., M.S.A. in Alor Room (building A UMN) on Friday (17/6/22). It is hoped that this signing will be a bridge for future collaboration between UMN and Petra Christian University Surabaya. This joint event began with the screening of a video profile of UMN and a speech from Ninok Leksono as the Chancellor of UMN.
“Let’s share and exchange experiences. Please don’t hesitate and feel free to ask any questions. Thank you for visiting. Hopefully, this visit will be fruitful. Let’s start discussing,” Ninok said.
Continuing Ninok’s remarks, Agus Arianto, Petra University’s Vice-Chancellor for Resources, said that Petra representatives also wanted to learn how UMN manages its infrastructure so that Petra University can also keep its infrastructure up to date and Petra students can also benefit from it.
After the remarks from the two campuses, the MOU was signed, with each campus sharing souvenirs and taking photos for documentation. Then, presentations were conducted by UMN’s representatives Andrey Andoko, the Vice-Chancellor for General Administration and Finance, and Friska Natalia, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
In his presentation, Andrey explained several things about the UMN building. He shared that the UMN campus is designed to have many open spaces, such as the main lobby, which can accommodate 1200 people. He also added that at UMN, every space is a learning space where students can study indoors or outdoors.
In addition to the anatomy of the UMN building, Andrey also explained about the incubator business (Skystar Ventures) at UMN. He said that Skystar Ventures is for students who want to start their own business. UMN helps to facilitate places and mentors up to the point where they can start their start-up businesses. All students from any study program at UMN can also use Skystar Ventures. Continuing Andrey, Friska Natalia then explained the academic programs at UMN.
“At UMN, there are 3 learning models for the next semester, full onsite, hybrid, and full asynchronous,” Friska said.
Friska also said that the academic concept at UMN is resource sharing, where resources are equally distributed per study program. In addition, she also discussed the 6 MBKM programs (internships, entrepreneurship, research, village projects, independent projects, and student exchanges) currently being implemented by the UMN campus.
“MBKM opens up opportunities for us to expand and explore further,” Friska said.
Therefore, Friska also suggested that it might be possible for UMN and Petra to carry out student exchanges, independent MBKM collaborations, lecturer research collaborations, and joint implementation of fostered villages in the future.
After the presentation, Agus and the Petra representative team asked several questions, one of which was about the role of the Building Manager at UMN.
“The role of the Building Manager starts from planning, daily maintenance of facilities, and infrastructure,” Andrey explained. In addition, at UMN itself, the Building Manager is also the coordinator of three sections: engineering (operations), hospitality, and outsourcing (cleaning and operators).
After a group discussion in the room, representatives of Petra University continued the visit by going on a campus tour to see the green screen studio facilities, broadcast room, newsroom, sound design lab, and Skystar ventures.
