Tangerang – Indonesia performed its best on the night of the Grand Final. Wrapped in beautiful and sparkling dresses, the princesses competed for the top position in the event. On this occasion, UMN was present to encourage and appreciate their hard work from the quarantine period to the coronation night.
The Puteri Indonesia Foundation (Yayasan Puteri Indonesia/YPI) once again held the much-anticipated beauty contest, the 27th Puteri (Princess) Indonesia election, with the theme “Realizing a Young Generation with Character Towards a Sustainable Advanced Indonesia.” The finalists representing various provinces in Indonesia were present to show their elegance and strength to win the title of “Princess Indonesia.”
On the coronation night, the princesses took turns showing their best performances on stage. 12 judges judged their performances from various agencies and backgrounds. Furthermore, the judges will choose the best among all finalists and give an assessment based on predetermined criteria.
YPI Advisory Board Chair Putri Kuswisnu Wardani explained that the princesses must have three main points, namely beauty, intelligence, and good behavior. This year, YPI introduced one additional assessment, “Be Right.”
“This year, it is no less important that we add the element of “Be Right.” It’s about the attitude when faced with difficult life choices. We must choose what is good and right. That is the quality of a true Princess Indonesia,” Putri said during a press conference at The Westin Hotel Jakarta on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
In this prestigious event, UMN provides support and appreciation to the finalists. Per its principles, the university, which holds the “Excellent” accreditation title, wants to continue contributing to the nation’s progress. This can be seen on the final night of Puteri Indonesia 2024 last Friday when UMN enthusiastically provided full educational scholarships to the selected princesses.
“There are three titles that are entitled to educational scholarships by UMN. The three titles are Best Traditional Dressed Princess, awarded to Melati Tedja from East Java; Talented Princess, awarded to Putricia Adelianto from DKI Jakarta; and Friendship Princess, awarded to Annisa Dabeduku Thesia from West Papua,” said Sorta Yocevina as Master Education Consultant. She explained that the scholarship awarded was a full scholarship for a Master’s degree in either Communication Science or Management.
The Friendship Princess of Indonesia, Annisa, felt very happy and grateful for the opportunity to continue her education at UMN. She enthusiastically told the entire campus community to look forward to her arrival at UMN.
In the competition, which coincided with International Women’s Day, Harashta Haifa Zahra from West Java won the main title, Puteri Indonesia 2024. The woman familiarly called Tata managed to beat 40 other contestants from all over Indonesia. She was followed by first runner-up Sophie Kirana from Yogyakarta, second runner-up Ketut Permata Juliastrid from Bali, and third runner-up Melati Tedja from East Java.

UMN Lecturer Gives Workshop to Puteri Indonesia (Doc. UMN)
Previously, UMN lecturers contributed as speakers to a workshop session held at the Westin Hotel, Kuningan, on March 5. Dewi Warhamni, a public speaking lecturer, gave material on personal branding to the Puteri Indonesia finalists. The workshop was held with the hope that the participating princesses could take home in-depth and valuable knowledge to support their steps in developing their careers in the future.
Through various contributions that have been made, UMN hopes to become a driving force for the next generation of the nation to achieve higher education. In addition, the collaboration between UMN and the Puteri Indonesia Foundation is expected to pave the way for alums who want to continue their careers in the beauty company.
By supporting various events, such as the Puteri Indonesia 2024 election, UMN emphasizes its commitment to facilitating the development of the potential and talents of Indonesia’s young generation. This aligns with UMN’s motto, “Excellent Career Begins with Excellent Education.”
