May 28, 2024TANGERANG—Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia/KONI) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in developing students’ non-academic skills.
UMN believes that students need to develop non-academic skills in addition to academic skills. These non-academic abilities include various skills and experiences that are important for developing character and increasing competitiveness in the world of work, such as sports, arts, and leadership.
To support this, UMN, as a university that pays attention to the potential of its students, has designed a collaboration with KONI as outlined in the MoU. A meeting to discuss this cooperation was held on May 14, 2024, in UMN’s Halmahera room.
The meeting was attended by Mr. H. Karnadi, the Secretary of the Youth, Sports, Culture and Tourism Office, and the ranks of KONI Tangerang Regency. UMN representatives who attended included Prof. Dr. Muliawati G. Siswanto, M.Eng.Sc., Vice-Rector for Relations and Cooperation; Dr. Ir. P. M. Winarno, M.Kom., Director of the Institute for Research and Community Service; and Boby Arinto, S.E., M.M., Manager of the Global Relations and Cooperation Office.
The points of cooperation between the two institutions will be determined at the next meeting. This form of collaboration is expected to open up more opportunities for UMN students to excel in the non-academic field and positively contribute to the national sports world.
KONI itself has known UMN for a long time, thanks to its outstanding students. One example is the UMN student who won the national Taekwondo championship.
This collaboration marks a strategic step for UMN and KONI in creating a young generation that excels academically, as well as in sports and other non-academic fields.
