Tangerang (23/01) – UMN inaugurates a collaboration in the Non-General program for Bina Abyakta Foundation students. This Non-General program will be implemented for five semesters and starts on (26/01). Four students from the Bina Abyakta Foundation will join the UMN Animation non-general program.
UMN officially collaborates with Bina Abyakta Foundation, a shelter for children with autism. As a form of UMN’s commitment to education, UMN creates learning programs for children with autism because UMN accepts differences and believes everyone deserves a decent education.
The signing of the MoU was attended by Ir. Andrey Andoko as the Vice-Rector for Administration and Finance, CED, and three representatives of Bina Abyakta Sitta Dewi, Vita Priastuty, and Chokky Aldrich. This collaboration also aims to empower and equalize learning in Indonesia. The vision of the Bina Abyakta Foundation is to develop children’s work not because of pity but because of the quality of their work.
“Our goal is for the children to be independent, not only self-help, and help them in discipline but also prepare the goals for the next 10 years; prepared practically,” Vita said.
According to Vita, the children have a lot of potential, ranging from accounting to drawing and animation. They want to help children develop their potential so they are not reserved. The Bina Abyakta Foundation hopes that UMN can participate in helping and supporting children with autism to explore their potential.

At the signing of this MoU, UMN and the Bina Abyakta Foundation also discussed the learning system.
“This program is an interesting and challenging program for UMN lecturers. Frankly, UMN also needs to learn to understand the children’s behavior to create the right learning model,” Andrey said.
In this discussion, Andrey also questioned how autistic children communicate and receive information. The autistic children themselves can communicate well and are pretty active in socializing. Many also like to read, understand visual learning better, and prefer one-way learning.
Vita said that the children from the Bina Abyakta Foundation would undoubtedly be happy with on-site learning on the UMN campus, and it would be fun for them. Classes for the children of the Bina Abyakta Foundation will start on January 29, 2024, for five semesters, and classes will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

On (26/01) was the welcoming of four Bina Abyakta students: Oliver Adiwarman, Nicola Winota, Owen Tjahjono, and Jason Aditya Lee. Three animation lecturers and the CED team also attended the welcoming ceremony.
Upon welcoming the non-general students, the four students were provided with UMN campus rules, sharing sessions in the form of what is needed during class activities later, such as tools and software. In addition, the four students were also given student ID cards to show that they had become part of UMN.
“We are delighted that UMN warmly received Bina Abyakta students. I hope UMN can also make the students more creative and hone their existing skills,” Vita said.
During the class, the students from the Bina Abyakta Foundation followed the class well, and the lecturer himself taught the creation process in stages, ensuring that all students understood the material. The material presented includes making shapes, adjusting image composition, and setting the right size for their images.
