UMN Achieves Best Green Campus Level in Indonesia and the World

Based on ui GreenMetric World University Rankings 2017 research, Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) was ranked 12th best green campus in Indonesia and ranked 240th in the world. This is an improvement, after umn previously ranked 16th in Indonesia and ranked 282nd in the world in 2016.

Sudarman Sutanto as Building Management Manager of UMN explained the increase in ranking achieved by UMN this year thanks to improvements in several aspects. “Garbage has been processed into compost, water has also been processed, we add greening in the campus area, and campus bus transportation. That’s what makes us better,” Sudarman said when met at UMN on Wednesday (13/12).

Sudarman added, it would be more effective if UMN students want to ride a bicycle to campus. To that end, UMN plans to provide special bicycle parking in the area near pedestrian building B.

A total of 619 world universities in 76 countries participated in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2017. They submitted a race participation form in October and received the results of their assessment in December.

In the 8th year of implementation, UI GreenMetric assessment criteria include campus infrastructure, green areas, funding provided by the campus in support of environmental conservation efforts, renewable energy used to the extent of the campus’ desire to invite stakeholders to participate in green campus programs.

13. Universitas Riau
14. Universitas Mataram
15. Institute of Technology Bandung

In the future, Sudarman said that UMN will participate in the green building race in May 2018. “We will also participate in the national level race in May 2018. The competition is related to green buildings or energy-efficient buildings, especially for new buildings, building D. If the event we qualify, we can participate in the ASEAN level competition,” sudarman concluded.
