UMN: From A Accreditation To World Class University
January 19, 2017Congratulations on the New Structural Lines of UMN
February 3, 2017Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) as a university that cares about the environment is committed to contribute to making national energy savings through the construction of the 3rd lecture building that again carries the concept of energy saving.
According to Dr. Ninok Leksono, as rector of UMN, the construction of Tower 3 which has now reached the topping off stage is a concrete step from UMN to support government initiatives in saving national energy. “In fact because of global warming, all parties are finally being prosecuted for going green. UMN also feels called to contribute. One way is to build an energy-efficient lecture building. If previously New Media Tower has been awarded several times as an energy-efficient building from home and abroad, then through Tower 3 we want to continue the culture, “he said.
Like the New Media Tower Building, Tower 3 also uses double skins that allow to control the intensity of light and sunlight entering the room so that the room is quite cold and bright. The existence of roof gardens in some locations not only makes Tower 3 more beautiful but also makes the air cooler. Then, air chimneys that take advantage of the difference in air pressure make the basement will not need to use an exhaust fan.
Tower 3 itself is used for teaching and learning activities of UMN students. This was revealed by Teddy Surianto, Chairman of Multimedia Nusantara Foundation. “Tower 3 was built in accordance with UMN’s master plan to accommodate additional UMN students and additional lecture facilities and laboratories. The new school year 2017 UMN adds several new study programs, including hospitality study programs. For that reason, UMN allocates a special floor complete with mock-up practice rooms of hotel rooms and food &beverage to support lecture facilities,” he explained
With 19 floors, a building height of 80 meters, and a total building area of 42,500m2, Tower 3 is able to accommodate more than 5 thousand students. In addition to classes, there will also be various other facilities to support students in studying at UMN. Some of these facilities include laboratories for Informatics Engineering Study Program, Physical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Journalism, Film &Television, and Hospitality; Lecture Theater that can accommodate up to 500 people; and indoor sports facilities such as basketball, futsal, and badminton courts located on the top floor of Tower 3.
